Coaches and Directors
This is Coach Brent's 8th year as head coach of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club.
Brent Ransom was born and raised in Chicago, IL and is the son of William and Daniella Ransom. He attended and swam for Kenwood Academy High School where he excelled in swimming and track. Following high school, he attended the University of Toledo where he studied communications with a focus in Radio and Television Broadcasting. He swam for the Rocket swim team. While swimming at UT he began swimming summers for GTAC(Greater Toledo Swim Club) and eventually helped coach and manage the 13-18 age group from 1998-2002 under then head coaches Chris Wolford and Keith Kennedy.
Brent coached the Cincinnati Marlins from 2002 until 2009. While with the Cincinnati Marlins, he was involved with coaching Junior Olympic champions, Junior National qualifiers, high school champions, Senior National qualifiers, Olympic Trial qualifiers and many other very talented and hard working athletes.In 2010, Brent became assistant coach for the Xavier University Men’s and Women’s swim team. Among his coaching responsibilities, he planned daily practices for the sprint and distance programs, he helped swimmers develop stroke technique and race strategies for competition, and he coordinated the strength building program for the athletes.During the Xavier years, he helped create a culture of dedication and accountability that still lives on today.During his time at GTAC, Brent has had the opportunity to coach Junior Olympic champions, high school state champions, state record holders and countless inspired athletes that have continued on from the GTAC program to multiple Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 colleges. His goal is to make sure every swimmer accomplishes what they want in the sport in swimming. A bigger goal of his is to make sure each and everyone of his swimmers become decent human beings since that's matters most in life

Brigid is the Head Age Group Coach and Gold Coach at GTAC. She has been coaching swimming since 1993, beginning her work at GTAC in 2011. She has coached novice, intermediate, advanced, and elite swimmers for YMCA and USA swim clubs in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and France, as well as a summer league in Virginia. She has coached YMCA district and state champions and national qualifiers; Junior Olympic state champions and top ten swimmers; Zone qualifiers and champions, Illinois and Ohio state record holders; Junior National qualifiers; Sectionals qualifiers, Futures qualifiers, an Olympic Trial qualifier; and a USMS national champion. She has been invited to coach at several elite USA swimming camps. She has been part of the coaching staff at USA Zones and Midstates teams. Her main goals when coaching swimmers are to help them improve their technique and to aid them to develop more self-confidence so they can get faster times. She also hopes to teach swimmers that swimming can be a life-long sport that always keeps a person healthy in spirit and mind.
Sydney has been coaching at GTAC since 2019, and she has worked with the Minnows, Bronze, Silver, and Senior groups. She is originally from a suburb outside of Chicago where she grew up swimming summer league and on her varsity high school team. In high school, she competed twice at the Illinois high school state meet in the 100 breaststroke, and she trained with the club team Academy Bullets. She went on to compete at Ohio Northern University where she swam on the national qualifying medley relay. Sydney coached stroke clinics throughout college, provided private lessons for 9 years, and is the head coach for Ottawa Hills High School Swim Team.


Will has been coaching with GTAC since 2023. He swam 4 years with GTAC and played waterpolo for 8 years. He coaches different sports in all different age groups from 7-17. He loves working with the kids and helping them grow and develop in their desired sport and in life.
Caitlin Heinze has been coaching for GTAC since 2022. She is from Toledo, OH and is currently studying Marketing at the University of Toledo. She has swum for GTAC since she was 7 years old, was a member of the Varsity Swim Team at St. Ursula Academy for 4 years, and is currently a member of the University of Toledo Women's Swim and Dive Team.
