Applications for this year’s 14 & Under All-Star Mid-States Championships are being taken for the six team all-star meet at IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN on January 3-4, 2025.
The six teams are: Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Swimmers that feel they may be one of the fastest four swimmers in Ohio are encouraged to apply for the team. No times standards are required to apply for the team.
The fastest four (4) swimmers in each event (except the 1650 [3]) from those applications received by the deadline will be selected. Be sure to enter all of your best times fo your swimmer since 9/1/2025 in your entry for consideration for additional events in case they have not been filled. All swimmers should submit their fastest 50 freestyle time from the qualifying period for relay considerations, even if the swimmer is not likely to be selected for the individual event. Swimmers may apply for as many events as they wish, but will not be selected for more than 6 individual events.
For the second time in meet history, the 11/12 age group will have an opportunity to swim the 200s of stroke at the meet (200 Butterfly, 200 Breaststroke, and 200 Backstroke). The 11-12yr old 200’s of stroke events will be swum as 11-14 events seeded by time but scored/awarded by age group. Entries for the 11-12yr olds 200s of stroke events will be submitted with a 100 of stroke time. A 200 of stroke counts as one of 6 individual events that an athlete is allowed to compete in.
In the event that a swimmer qualifies for the team in more events than permissible by the meet rules, the following criteria will be considered for selection of the next applicant:
- Relative strength of events for swimmer exceeding the entry limit
- Differential between next fastest applicant and the swimmer exceeding the event limit
- Strength of the next fastest applicant relative to national time standards and previous year's meet results
- Event distribution for the swimmer exceeding the entry limitation
In the unlikely event that two swimmers are tied for the final spot in any event, and none of the other criteria for event selection resolve the tie, the swimmers' best time in that specific event from the previous long course season may be used to break the tie.
