Our History

After 10 years in North Carolina competing in combined training events, 4 years participating in intercollegiate horse shows, and more than 30 years of trail riding and day trips in Adirondack Park, NY, the Ward family wanted to bring their joy of varied equine experiences and disciplines to northwest Ohio. Owner and Head Coach of Ridge Run Vaulters, Cathy Ward, is a Certified Horsemanship Association All-Discipline Riding Instructor. "Coach Cathy" competed as a USA Gymnastics Level 9 gymnast and has coached preschool and progressive gymnastics classes for CUNY-Queens College in NYC and the Greater Toledo YMCA. Bringing both horses and gymnastics together in the sport of Equestrian Vaulting, Coach Cathy has completed the American Vaulting Association Coaches training at the National Symposium in Nevada and is ready to share the sport with NW Ohio.   Cathy has been a Girl Scout troop leader to two troops in NW Ohio through Cadette and Senior levels.  She regularly practices and teaches adult group fitness classes, specializing in horseback riding and performance athlete fitness.  Cathy's training includes Balanced Body Mat & Reformer Pilates with international Master Trainer and world reknowned Pilates educator Troy McCarty at White Cloud Studio in Cleveland, OH.  Many of the skills taught in the studio may be found woven throughtout the Ridge Run Riding and Vaulting programs.
