Coaches and Directors
Emily came to LOSC in 2011. During her time the club has seen
tremendous growth. LOSC has more than tripled in size under her
guidance and become a dominant club within the State, Region, and
Country. Under her leadership, LOSC has swept all state meets for
multiple years, broke countless LSC records, and had athletes win
Junior Nationals, Sectionals, and Futures.
Emily swam at UCLA and was a four year varsity swimmer. She
was a finalist at the Pac-10 Championships and a member of the
All-Academic Pac-10 team multiple years. Voted Most
Inspirational and Hardest Working by her teammates, Emily values
character in and out of the pool. Emily swam for and learned
from renowned coaches Cyndi Gallagher (UCLA Women's
Head Coach), Greg Meehan (currently the Stanford
Women's Head Coach and 2016 Olympic Coach), and Jay Benner
(club coach of Olympians Nathan Adrian and Dana Kirk). She has
coached swimmers of all levels and developed swimmers into Olympic
Trials qualifiers, USA Swimming All-Time Top 100 athletes, multiple
National Top 10 Ranked athletes, National Junior Team athletes, and
many kids who have gone on to swim in college, graduate, and find
success beyond the pool.
Emily is recognized nationally, serving on the American Swim
Coaches Association (ASCA) Board of Directors and serving on staffs
of the USA Swimming National Select Camp, Zone Select Camp, and
National Diversity Select Camp. Recently she served as the Head
Coach of the National Diversity Select Camp and the Central Zone
Select Camp. She was named Oregon Swimming Senior Coach of the year
for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 and has won the Oregon Swimming USAS
Service Award. Currently serving as General Chair of Oregon
Swimming as well as serving on the USA Swimming Diversity, Equity,
and Inclusion National Council and USA Swimming Club Development
Board—Emily believes strongly in giving back to the sport.
Patrick returns to LOSC in 2021 as Associate Head Coach. Starting with LOSC in 2012, Patrick worked with all groups from beginning to national level athletes. In 2017 Patrick won OSI Age Group Coach of the Year. In 2018, Patrick returned to Knoxville, TN and began working as Tennessee Aquatic Club (TNAQ) and volunteering with the University of TN womens team. During this time, Patrick worked with Olympians, Olympic Trials finalists, NCAA Champions and top level age group athletes. Patrick has an enthusiasm that brings out the best in his athletes. Patrick swam four years at University of TN and majored in Engineering. He enjoys crossfit, biking, coffee, and hanging out with this giant dog THOR.
Emily has experience coaching all over the country, most recently serving as the Head Age Group Coach for the MAC, prior to that she coached in Austin, TX. Before moving to Texas Emily lived in Ohio, and was earning her degree. Emily attended Ohio University and graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Child and Family Studies. While at OU Emily was a member of the Swimming and Diving Team as well as an intern for Athens County Children Services. Emily has been swimming for the last fifteen years, and is passionate about coaching because it combines her two interests: working with kids and swimming! Emily brings an infectious enthusiasm and an eye for detail. She has also participated in the USA Swimming's innagural Women Coaches in Governance program!
Michael comes to LOSC after a year with Chehalem Swim Team. Prior to CST, Michael served as the Head Senior Coach for the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team where he coached multiple regional, sectional, and national level athletes. During his time with SWAT, he coached one athlete to a Junior National title as well as a spot on the USA National Junior Team. Michael brings a huge amount of experience, enthusiasm, and love of the sport. Michael swam at Whitworth University where he was an All-American, his wife Natalie is the current Head Coach of George Fox University.
Jessie has a love for coaching and helping all athletes appreciate the water. Bringing years of experience in lessons, age group club coaching and dryland, she has been instrumental to LOSC's growing developmental program and building our 10&U swimming. Jessie brings an enthusiasm, creativity, and compassion to her work every day. LOSC's 10&U athletes have repeated outscored all of OSI at the State Championship year in and year out. Outside of work, Jessie enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, paddleboarding, and hanging out with her dog Breslin. She is an avid Chicago and Pittsburgh sports fan, as well as Michigan State University (her alma mater).
