MERRY SHARKMAS! OUR FUN HOLIDAY EVENT - Wednesday December 20th is MERRY SHARKMAS HOLIDAY PARTY, our annual holiday party. All training groups will come together from 5-6:30pm for fun, relays and perhaps some racing in the pool. After our pool fun there will be a Holiday Cookie exhcange where athletes wishing to participate will bring one dozen cookies and will be able to take one dozen cookies home with them. The team will supply hot chocolate to sip and enjoy during the cookie exchange. See the MERRY SHARKMAS event page on our team website for the latest details as the event date approaches.
RECAP: SPARKS WINTERFEST MEET - This past weekend on December 9-11 Thirty-two (32) Tigersharks participated in the Sparks Piranha's Winterfest meet. For our younger athletes this was a great opportunity to get some more competitive experience in a judged and USA Swimming sanctioned setting. For our older 13+ year-old ahtletes, the meet was an opportunity to have some fun swims like 100 IM and 50's of Fly, Back and Breast. Tigersharks did well and had fun! Many of our younger athletes were dropping times from just a few weeks back at the NV State Championships.
PACIFIC SWIMMING ALL-STARS APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE - Each year Pacific Swimming runs a 14/under Zone All Star Meet ("ZAM"). Each Zone selects an All-Star team from it's pool of applicants for this meet. The meet offers a "select" team experince where athletes from different clubs come together for a special select team. The ZAM meet location rotates annually throughout the zones. Each year athletes aged 9+ from all zone teams travel, lodge and eat together as a team. Athletes aged nine years and older who are selected will meet and join the select team on Saturday March 2nd 2024 and will attend the ZAM banquet and stay in a hotel with all of the other ZAM teams. Athletes aged 8/under are invited to the banquet but do not travel/lodge with the team and instead are chaperoned by their parents. In 2024 the ZAM will be hosted by Zone 4 (our zone) and will be held in Carson City on Sunday March 3rd. Athlete and Chaperone applications are available online HERE and are due January 21st.. If you need more information please ask your coach.
TRAINING SCHEDULE CHANGES - December Holidays mean that we will have several training schedule changes later this month. The changes include "doubles" for Senior groups as well as some days off for family time at the holidays. Please be sure to consult the TRAINING CALENDAR on our website to see when we will be taking days off, or when there will be practice time changes (or doubles offered).
BLIZZARD BLAST IS FAST APPROACHING - Please SAVE THE DATE. Our annual Tigersharks hosted short course yards meet, BLIZZARD BLAST will be held January 12-14, 2024. Since this is OUR meet, we'll need lots of volunteers to help make everything come together. We'd also like to see virtually all of our Tigersharks competing in this meet. We will be providing more details including meet information sheet, volunteer signups, online entries, etc. in the coming weeks. Online entries will be on the FASTSWIMS.COM platform, if you have not yet set up an account on Fastswims.com you may do it at any time (learn more HERE)
MARK YOUR CALENDAR - Our team calendar is available online at all times.
