COLE BENNETT JOINS TIGERSHARKS COACHING STAFF - Cole Bennett has joined the Tigersharks coaching staff as the primary coach of the Gold Group. Cole will also be helping the team out by coaching other groups when needed. Cole grew up here in Carson City and graduated from Carson High. He was Northern Region NIAA HS Champion in the 50 Free and 100 Free in 2023, He also took second and third respectively in these events in the 2023 NIAA State High School Championship meet. Cole has excellent swimming knowledge and has studied stroke technique and trainin. Cole has particularly extensive knowledge with sprint training. Cole has proven ability to compete at a high level while balancing training, academics and personal growth. Cole still competes in higher level USA Swimming meets as well as in masters competitions.
FEBRUARY 2025 CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS RECAP - Our Tigersharks attended two Championship meets in February. Over Presidents Day weekend thirteen of our athletes attended the Central California Swimming LSC's Age Group Champioship meet. This is a qualfying meet where participating athletes needed to achieve a qualifying time. The meet was also a Preliminary-Finals meet where athletes had to earn a swim in finals by placing highly enough in preliminaries. Every Tigershark that participated in the CCS Age Group Championship meet made it into finals swim(s)! Additionally Larkin Russell and Samson Massie made so many finals that they each won High Point Awards in the 15-18 age groups. - - Two Weekends later Leif Morway and Hannah Ingram competed in USA Swimming's Speedo Sectional Championships in Roseville CA. Both Leif and Hannah made finals at this tough, high level meet and both athletes came home with at least one new personal best time.
NNA MEET THIS WEEKEND, NO PRACTICES SATURDAY 3/15 - We have seventeen (17) Tigersharks signed up to compete in the USA Swimming Sanctioned, Pacific Swimming Zone 4 Meet hosted by NNA at Northwest Pool this weekend. Due to our team being at this meet we will not hold practices on Saturday March 15. Meet Participants will be emailed about arrival/warm up times later this week.
OUR MEET TOUCHPAD EQUIPMENT NEEDS REPAIR - Seeking Volunteers to help us apply adhesive and propoerly cure our timing equipment's touchpads which are starting to have their coveres delaminate. This is a project we hope to move along in pieces over the next two months so that the touchpads are all ready to go for our Tigersharks hosted Long Course Intermountain Classic meet on May
OFFICIALS NEEDED - Zone 4 now requires teams participaiting in Z4 meets to provide minimum number of officials based on a team's enrollment in a meet/session. If the team does not meet these requirements its athletes will swim exhibition (for time only and not for place/award). Several of our officials are parents of older athletes. Our team needs to fill the pipeline with new officials to take over after our current official's children graduate HS and move on. Please talk to Coach Jim or see the Pacific Swimming website for information on how to be come an official.
ZONE ALL STAR MEET APPLICATIONS - Are due no later than this Sunday March 16th and will be accepted at the NNA Meet this weekend. All age groups in Z4 are lacking applicants except for 11-12 Girls and 13-14 Girls.
