Weekly Email (12/28)
What a great year 2024 has been! Next week, we head in to 2025 new challenges await, but with the knowledge that all of us are a little stronger, a little smarter, and a whole lot tougher than we have ever been before.
As some of you may have heard, every year we do one Holiday Training set from the playbook of the greats. Our Seniors will do 100x100 on Tuesday, December 31st to send us into the New Year, while our younger groups will be doing an equivalent set on Wednesday, January 1st to welcome the New Year. As many of you know, this set has a place and time, but it isn’t particularly to make you a faster swimmer. This sets value lies in learning to deal with, and reformat, the feeling of knowing something is coming and knowing that thing is going to be incredibly hard or difficult, otherwise known as dread. Then coming out on the other side, happy, exhausted, and with treats from the coaches. I encourage all of you to encourage your swimmers to participate in this event. They will be so proud of themselves at the end of it, even if getting through it seems impossible at the start. The learning, the doing, and the accomplishment is the lesson.
