Weekly Email (1/22)- Zones, Block Party, and Recognition Beads!
Hey All!
It is the week of Zone Champs! This is a great meet because all of our qualifying swimmers can be at the same meet at the same time, regardless of age. This does mean that the meet will be a little longer, but it also means that your swimmers will have an excellent chance to get to know the older swimmers, while the older swimmers will act as mentors for the younger swimmers.
Zone Buddies are assigned by our Senior Captains. Please check back on Thursday evening after 5:45 as the seniors will do this during their dryland on Thursday. Zone Buddies will hang out together, cheer for each other, help each other warm up and our older swimmers will be able to share some tribal DKS knowledge with our younger swimmers.
Please check out our Parent Job Matrix: Since Zone Champs is run by the Zone, meet jobs are split by team. Our site has been assigned: meet marshals- Basically, bring your chair, bring your coffee and spread some safety in your assigned area. We also need a few parents to take and return the team tents. We have 72 swimmers entered in this meet, so we will need to bring ALL 4 of our team tents, but we should also have enough parents to fill our volunteer spots. Tents must be delivered to the pool no later than 6:45a- but we are looking into delivering them on Friday night.l As always, officials are encouraged to officiate at the meet.
February 1st Block Party Meet- Initially scheduled for Feb 8, this meet was moved to Feb 1st due to pool availability. Please LOG IN to your account, click on the EVENTS tab at the top of the page, choose TEAM EVENTS from the grey bar in the middle of the page and then choose the pink Edit Commitment button next to the PASA Feb 1 Block Party Meet. From there, you should be able to select which of your athletes is competing and select their events after clicking on their name. A flat fee of $40/ swimmer will be added to your account, so sign up for 4 events- please estimate your swimmers times if they have not swum the event. You can have your swimmer ask their group coach about estimated times also.
Recognition Beads- We are bringing back Recognition Beads. At Zone Champs, and then at each swimmer's first meet of 2025, they will receive a 2025 PASA Lanyard- personally made by Coach Dana (or hopefully some Gold swimmers on Thursday). Swimmers will receive a specific bead for each meet they attend and then can earn beads by achieving time standards. Beads are earned with a BEST TIME and swimmers may receive the bead of the highest standard they achieved (so only 1 bead per swim).
