TVA's "Zone 2 All-Star Swimmers"

 In the All-Star Zone

Any swimmer can show up to a meet and swim a few events. A good swimmer comes and swims a few races. An excellent swimmer gets to the meet and knows that they’re about to put one hundred percent into every lap they’re supposed to swim that day. It’s one thing to be a swimmer, another to be a good swimmer, and a completely different thing to be an excellent swimmer – an all-star.

This weekend,Chris Jhong (10) and Andrew Wang (8) represented not only Tri Valley Aquatics, but our division of Pacific Swimming – Zone 2 – at the Pacific Swimming Developmental Zones All-Star Meet. Every year, each zone of Pacific Swimming (there are five) selects the top 8 swimmers in each age group and gender for 8-unders to 13-14s. For the last 3 years, Zone 2 has won this meet, which speaks for how competitive it can be to make the team. Chris and Andrew had to perform at a high level throughout the whole season and particularly at the Zone 2 Championship meet a few weekends ago to be selected for the team.

Both Andrew and Chris swam well this last weekend (March 6) at the meet. Andrew swam a best time in his 100 IM, dropping a second and a half. Chris dropped times in all 3 of his individual events in first-place fashion, his new time in the 50 Breast the fastest for his age group in all of Pacific Swimming and a new Zone 2 record.

Congratulations to Chris and Andrew on their performances this past weekend!
