Pac Swimming Senior Championships

What a weekend all of our senior swimmers had! Congratulations to Nate Borchers, Maria Carlson, Adam Conway, Stephanie Doi, Vicki Espiritu, Thomas Gjerde, Jason Lau, Jordan Reznick, Devin Shepodd, Kyle Shepodd, Natalie Tang, Alex Torrez, Caleb Wagner, and Julian Wagner on a great three-day meet. There were a total of 37 best times between all of them and few new team records.

Outstanding swims included Jordan Reznick’s 500 Free, which he repeated in finals – his first 200 split was faster than his best time for the 200 Free! – and Julian Wagner’s 4-second drop in the 200 IM, which he also swam finals for. Stephanie Doi and Maria Carlson each swam a new Sectional qualifying time (in the 100 Fly and 200 Free, respectively), and Nate Borchers and Thomas Gjerde both broke the 2-minute barrier in the 200 Free.

Finalists were Maria Carlson (50, 200 Free; 100 Breast), Stephanie Doi (100 Free, 100 Fly), Vicki Espiritu (50 Free, 100 Back), Jordan Reznick (500 Free), Kyle Shepodd (200 Breast), Natalie Tang (50, 100 Free; 200 IM), Caleb Wagner (200 Breast), and Julian Wagner (200 Breast, 200 IM). Best times came from Nate Borchers (50, 100, 200 Free; 100 Fly), Maria Carlson (50, 200 Free; 100 Breast), Stephanie Doi (100, 200 Free; 100 Fly), Vicki Espiritu (50, 100 Free; 100 Back), Thomas Gjerde (100, 200 Free), Jason Lau (50, 100 Free; 100 Fly), Jordan Reznick (50, 100, 500 Free; 200 Breast), Devin Shepodd (500 Free, 200 IM), Kyle Shepodd (50 Free; 100, 200 Breast; 200 IM), Natalie Tang (200 Back), Caleb Wagner (50, 100 Free; 200 Breast), and Julian Wagner (100 Breast, 200 IM).

Again, congratulations to all of this weekend’s swimmers! For most, the Senior Championships marks the end of this year; however, Maria Carlson, Adam Conway, Stephanie Doi, and Natalie Tang will be making the trip down to Long Beach for Sectionals Championship later this week.

With this year just about wrapped up, it’s time to think of one more thing, that will be wrapped up: presents! Don’t forget about the Tri Valley Aquatics Holiday Party that will be at Rockin’ Jump on December 23rd (more information available on the team website). We’re doing a Secret Santa gift exchange there, and all you need to do to be included in the fun is fill out one of the forms.

As this is probably the last letter I’ll have for you in 2011, I have to thank everyone for such a great year! I really enjoyed watching all of you work hard and improve so much, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!

See you all at the pool!

Natalie Tang,

Team Captain
