Senior Championship Results
The Senior and Gold groups raced this past weekend at the Pacific Swimming Senior Championships in Pleasant Hill. Nate Borchers, Maria Carlson, Stephanie Doi, Thomas Gjerde, Chris Harker, Lissi Knell, Philip Massoud, Claire Piazza, Jordan Reznick, Luane Rowe, Natalie Tang, Alex Torrez, Katie Tsui, Caleb Wagner, Julian Wagner, and Sydney Wagner swam a total of 86 races – with 76 best times! (That’s over 87 percent which, in a bet with Coach Daniel, earns them three pizzas…)
If just those statistics aren’t exciting enough, ALL of the boys who competed at the Senior Championships swam ALL best times through the weekend, as did Katie, Claire, Maria, Sydney, and Luane. On the last day of competition, Maria dropped over 2 seconds in her 100 breast to blow past not only the Junior Nationals cut, not only the Seniors National cut, but also the US Open time! Luane has also qualified for USA Swimming Open Water National Championship with her 1650 time. Nate Borchers also took off huge amounts off time in his 1000 free to get his first Sectional time! Sprinters Natalie and Jordan also pulled off impressive feats during the meet – racing over 3700 yards each!
I’ll have another update for you guys soon, once the Pacific Swimming top times are updated – I’m sure that between this past weekend and the JO weekend, there will be plenty to report! For now, though, keep swimming strong and stay warm!
