August Update

Parks is working hard on finding our new Head Coach and are confident we will have someone soon. Together with Parks, the new Head Coach will immediately look for and train new assistant coaches.  Until then, Coach Katherine, Coach Leilani and select aquatic staff will make sure all practices are covered as we start the Fall season. Our first day back is Monday, Sept. 11^th.  Please see the BISC website for an updated practice schedule.  Coach Leilani has analyzed the current team members and will send out confirmation of your swimmer’s group level by Aug. 31^st. Please plan to attend the correct practice time. Feel free to email Coach Leilani with questions.

Practices for last 2 weeks of August: We will run practice for Champs & Senior groups August 21^st-24^th and August 28^th-31^st.

Champs:                                 M & W 5:30-7pm, T&TH 5-6:30p

Senior Groups:                       M & W 5:30-7:30pm, T&TH 5-7pm

Gold & interested Copper:     Monday Aug 28^th 4-5:15pm.

Updates for Calendar/Events (Tentative)

Bathing Suit Sizing – Friday, Sept. 15, 3:45-5:30, BAC Lobby

Come try-on and get your sizes so that you may order your uniforms through our team store with Swim Outlet. We are an Arena sponsored team and ask that all swimmers wear a team suit in competition and a team swim cap. There is more optional gear you can purchase as well.

Blue & Good Meet: Please declare your intention to swim & choose events. Sign up deadline is Sept. 6^th. Please sign up to volunteer. As a member of BISC each family is expected to volunteer at least 1 shift per child swimming at each of our home meets. Please join us for a community potluck outside the Ray pool immediately following the meet. You can sign up bring a salad, entrée, dessert, or drinks to share. There will also be a gear swap table organized by Allison Borvosky.

Registration: We are only registering NEW members to the team. Returning swimmers accounts will be rolled over. If any information on your account has changed, please update directly on your account.  If your swimmer is not planning to return please fill out a change of billing form and turn into the front desk.  Your swimmer’s USA swim registration renewal process will happen separately later before it expires at the end of December. More on this soon.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Congratulations to our Championship meet swimmers & coaches. BISC had 23 swimmers meet qualifying standards to compete at these season ending meets. A big thank you to Coach Katherine & Coach Carolyn for helping.  They provided our swimmers with guidance, motivation & inspiration at Age group Champs and kept practices running while Coach Leilani was away. Our swimmers looked sharp in their Championship shirts, thank you Booster Board!

Sr. Champs Meet July 19-22^nd: Competing were Kyler Boydon, Leland Hilgers, Sota Inoue, Sara Kriegh, Ian Letson, Wyatt Livingston, Eddie Nakhuda, Robbie Nakhuda, Lily Rehder & Emma Solseng. They all had some personal best times: Kyler(100Brst, 50 Fr & 100 Fly), Leland (100 BK), Sota (200 Fr & 200 IM), Sara (100 fly & 200 fly), Ian (13th 200 Fr, 10^th 400 IM, 9^th 200IM, 100 fly, 100 Fr, 9^th 200 Fly) Wyatt L (13^th 100 Brst, 400 IM, 12^th 200 Brst, 200 BK), Eddie (100 Brst, 200 IM), Robbie (200 Fr, 400 IM, 50 Fr, 100 Fr) Lily (400IM, 200 Bk), Emma (100 BK, 22^nd 50 FR, 24^th 100 Fly).Thank you to our relay swimmers (Kyler, Leland, Sota, Ian, Wyatt L, Ed,& Rob) All relays scored! (200 Free Relay 15^th: Kyler, Wyatt L., Leland, Ian) (400 Medley Relay 12^th: Leland, Wyatt L., Ian, Kyler) (200 Medley Relay 14th: Leland, Wyatt, Ian, Kyler) (400 Fr Relay 15^th: Eddie, Robbie, Ian, Sota) A special shout out to Coach Nick from West Coast Aquatics who covered Friday Finals & Saturday swims while Coach Leilani attended her family reunion. Well done BISC Senior swimmers, despite all the challenges you faced you remained committed to your goals and made the most of your opportunities. We are proud of all you accomplished.

12U Age Group Champs July 28^th-30^th Competing were William Browning, Rylee DuPont, Lana Evans, Romy Greer, Lola Jasperson, Aiden Johnson, Fiona Livingston, Wyatt Majors, Aria Michael, Tej Pal, Harper Rich, Wyeth Rose & Winston Williams. Swimming personal best times were William (50BK) Rylee (11^th 100 FR, 7^th 50 Fr, 10^th 50 Brst, 12^th 50 Fly, 100 Fly), Lana (50 Brst), Romy( 14^th 200IM, 15^th 50 Brst), Lola (12^th 200 Fly, 10^th 400IM, 200IM, 11^th 1500 Fr), Aiden Johnson (50BK, 50 Fr, 200 Fr, 200 Bk), Fiona (100 Bk), Wyatt M(6^th 50 Bk, 2^nd 200 Brst, 2^nd 200IM, 1^st 100 Brst, 3^rd 50 Brst, also placed 4^th 200 Fr), Aria (8^th 50 Bk, 7^th 400IM, 6^th 50 Fly, 11^th 100 BK,6^th  100 Fly and also  6^th 200 Fly), Tej (200 Brst, 200IM,15^th  100 Brst), Harper (50 Brst, 100 Fly), Winston (50Fr). Relay swimmers helped by earning double points: 200 Fr Relay got 10^th (Wyatt M, William, Aiden, Romy), 200 Medley Relay 8^th (Lola, Harper, Aria, Rylee), 200 Medley relay 9^th (Aiden, Tej, Romy, Wyatt M). With the 13 & 14s at the Senior meet our 11 & 12 swimmers really stepped it up to lead our team. Way to go Bluefins! Stellar showing!

2023 Western Zone Meet: Congratulations to Wyatt Majors who was selected to be part of the PNS Zone team in Boise, Idaho. He was 16^th in the 200 IM, 14^th with a PR in the 100 BRST, 14^th in the 200 BRST and all 3 relays he was on scored. Great job!
