Jan/Feb. Update

LEILANI TONSMANN

Monthly Update February:

Coaches corner:

Thank goodness January has come to a close and we are that much closer to SPRING!  We had a really nice training block in January and the times at the Bluefin Invite were indicative of that work.  We closed out our last Bluefin on a high note and are looking forward to the next chapter until construction concludes. We are ready to go full steam into spring training, spring meets & HS Boys State. Good luck gentlemen! We are looking forward to breaking down some barriers training wise, and making some quantum leaps into the next levels of performance.

I would like to thank my staff (Leilani and Katherine) for their help and support this past year, it certainly has made the transition to the PNW much easier.

Bluefin Invite:

Wow! What a way to close out hosting swim meets for our club at the Ray pool (for a while). Over 550 athletes and 13 teams participated and were on Bainbridge spurring the winter economy. BISC had 90% participation with 1 swimmer: senior Sara Kriegh at her last home meet of her BISC Career. We had 11 swimmers: Abigail Gavigan, Amelia Nickum, Amelia Sawin, Bea Thwaites, Camille Ferris, Claire Takeshita, Klara Koesel, Cyrah Carson, Leora Landreth, Silas Peet, and Virginia Williams, at their very first meet ever!

We had lots of ducky heat winners along with several new Regional cuts and Jonathan Fort making his first Regional time in the 50 Breaststroke. With so many teams in attendance there was stiff competition to bring home ribbons. Placing in the top 3 for their age group in 1 or more events were: Calder Brelsford-LaBadie, William Browning, Rylee DuPont, Lena Everett, Lukas Fort, Tessa Hurguy, Surya Jain, Audrey Keigley, Larry Killigrew, Sara Kriegh, Ian Letson, Fiona Livingston, Wyatt Livingston, Wyatt Majors, Aria Michael, Lily Rehder,Spencer Slowik, and Winston Williams.

I watched many great races and some learned skills put to work under pressure. That’s how we do it!

Our volunteers kept everything running so smoothly. We CANNOT do it without you. We heard lots of positive feedback, “we love this meet”, “We love coming to Bainbridge”, “The food is amazing”, “Everyone is so nice”.

Thank you to RJ Hilgers, the BISC Board of Directors and its band of power workers for another successful Bluefin Invite.  Special thank you to all the leads: RJ (Meet director), Shanna Majors (AO) Julee Longridge, (meet referee) Kay DuPont (starter) Elli Koskella (volunteer coordinator) and all you who helped officiate, announce, time, run hospitality & concessions, clerk of course, chaperones, meet marshall set up and tear down crew, STAGING etc. None of this would be possible without your efforts. Way to knock it out of the park Bluefins!

Construction Update: Our new schedule has been pushed back an additional week and is slated to begin March 3rd. Down at AOC.  Until then, our training schedule remains the same.
