LEILANI TONSMANN

Speedo Sectionals - Boise Idaho

600 athletes, from 6 states, over 4 days at 2750 ft above sea level. We had our work cut out for us.
BISC showed up and placed 17th overall out of 75 scoring teams with only 5 athletes in attendance. Every swimmer made a finals appearance or several. For Wyatt, Tessa and Kyler, it was their very first Sectionals meet.

Tessa Hurguy: Tessa crushed it, no other way to put it. Crazy list of events to swim and made all "A" Finals at her first Sectionals. She made 4 Futures Cuts: 400 IM, 200 Breast, 500 Free and the 1000 Free. She came away as an event Champion in 1650 and scored a whopping 135 points for the team. Amazingly strong showing for a first timer at this meet. Great job Tessa!

Sara Kriegh: Sara had a bit of a challenging meet, but she kept coming back with a smile on her face and swinging for the fences each time. She swam 50 and 100 Free hovering around her best times along with 100 Back. She also made finals in the 100 Fly. Keep up the good work Sara, it will pay off. Great job!

Ian Letson: Ian had some really good swims as well, most notably the 400 IM where he and Wyatt fought to the bitter end. Such a fun race to watch. He too, had a very challenging list of events at this meet. Ian swam 1000 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400IM, 500 Free, 200 IM and the 1650. He did a TT of the 100 fly just on his best in all his events, and scored 20 points for his team. Nice job Ian!

Wyatt (Kenneth) Livingston: Wyatt is a beast. He had a massive list of events to swim with lofty goals. He kept making finals and scored 24 points for his team. He had a big list of events and swam his heart out. 1000 free, 200 Breast drop of .77, 400 IM drop of 1.5, 500 Free, 100 Breast and 1650 with small adds. Super job Wyatt and Great Season!

I think this meet was a little more challenging for the HS Boys after coming off of their state meet high / taper and then trying to circle back for best times. We will have a better plan for next. There was some altitude to deal with along with a time change. All these variables add up and create some havoc.

Brian and Erin, thank you for all the rides, that sure simplified some things and saved the club some moola as well. Great job at this meet, we turned some heads again! I am looking forward to some good training / meets this spring and summer.

Regionals Recap - Boise Idaho

What a wild ride this meet was. We had 18 athletes at this meet and we placed 7th overall out of 68 scoring teams. We were the smallest team in the top 7. We had some amazing time drops, new Sectional Cuts, close finishes, close wins and exciting relays. BISC had tons of finals representation. We made our mark in Boise for sure. We had to deal with altitude, the post mid-winter break, snow days and some illnesses, but we battled through all the way to the end.

Thank you Megan, Betsy, Kay and Katherine for all the taxi rides. Reminded of me being a teen without a license again :). Thank you Shanna and Kay for your officiating efforts as well and all you folks who stepped up to time for the kiddos. GO BISC!
