Spring Finale Recap

Our last short course meet brought short course yards meets to a finale in Snohomish. BISC brought a team of 35 swimmers to race against 8 other teams from our LSC. Some of our swimmers were wanting to complete meet rubrics while others were looking for a final time drop before the season was over. In all sessions, they ran heats using 6 lanes so there was ample space for warm-up & cold down in 3 lanes between races which was really great. Those who had time to warm down after their races had several great swims in a day.

Placing in the top 6 in the highly competitive 11 & over sessions and taking home ribbons in the 11 & 12 session were: Surya Jain: 1st 50 fly, 1st 200 Fly, 3rd 200 Fr, 2nd 50 back and 3rd 50 Fr, Louis McKibbin 2nd 50 Fly with a PR, 2nd 100 Fly, 6th 200 IM and 2nd 200 Bk, Bennett Atchison 5th 100 back with a time improvement and PR’d in his 50 Fly, and 100 FR, and Aiden Johnson placed 2nd in the 100IM, and 4th in the 50 & 200 BK events all PR times. Abby Cimprich Improved times in every race she swam 200 IM, 100 Bk, 100 Fr, 50 Bk, 100 Brst, and 50 FR. Charlotte Cox also improved in every race coming off a back injury with time improvements in the 50 Fly, 100 Fr, 50 Bk, and 50 Fr. Margot Crawford improved her 100 fly. Jonathan Fort PR’d in his 200 IM, 100 BK, and 50 Brst, Emma Pocekovic improved times in her 100 Fr, 50 Bk, 50 Fr and 100 IM. Skylar Richarson swam best times in her 200 IM, 200Brst, 100 Fly, 100 Brst, and Harrison Younger swam a personal best in his 50 Brst after losing his goggles during his 50 fly race which was a great comeback.

The 10 & under sessions were set up as pentathlons meaning there was an award for swimming 5 events including a 50 of all strokes and the 100 IM with the overall lowest time. Our team did not win any awards this time. Around 150 Girls from 5 teams swam Saturday. Dropping time and setting new personal records in the 100 IM were: Chloe Frederickson (our highest finisher at 28th), Elinor Brelsford-LaBadie & Zoe Horn. Setting best times in the 50 Fr were: June Reeves (our highest finisher at 10th), Chloe, Mika Moskin and Elinor. Achieving best times in the the 50 Brst: Chloe (our highest finisher at 18th), June Reeves, June Brown, Zoe Horn, Mika, Campbell Feldman, Elinor, and Brooklyn Jarmuz. Setting best times in the 50 Bk were: Mika, Bea Thwaites, Campbell, and Abigail Gavigan. Earning personal best times in the 50 Fly were: June Reeves (with BISC highest placement of 9th),Chloe, Mika, Brooklyn, and Emme Feldman. The boys session was Sunday with about 100 boys competing in total with 7 Bainbridge boys in attendance. The competition was fast (5 events in about 2 hours) with our highest placing boy swimmer placing 41st. This was mostly due to how young our swimmers were competing in a 10 & under category. The boys stepped up and raced hard embracing the competition. Showing time improvements in the 100 IM were: Moses Wang, Otis Brown and Lukas Fort. Earning best times in the 50 FR were: Moses Wang, Jay Kowren, Calder Brelsford-LaBadie, Everett Crawford, and Otis. Achieving personal best times in the 50 Brst were: Lukas, Jay and Moses. Improved times in the 50 Bk came from Everett, Enoch Wang and Lukas. No best times were recorded for the 50 fly by our squad. The races went fast and everyone put great effort into each one. As always our parents cheered loudly and supported our swimmers' efforts. Way to go Bluefins! It was a March full of meets. (I will add more photos next week)
