Senior Champs Re-Cap by Coach Monique

LEILANI TONSMANN

Senior Champs - BISC took 8th Place out of 33 Teams with only 17 athletes. This meet was brutally long. No break between prelims/finals and finish times as late as 9:15pm. You want to know why we train the way we do? So, we can SHOW UP on the last day of a 4-day meet and kill it. We did just that.

We had an amazing start to this meet.  Our distance crew swimming the 1500 and 800 Free Relays got us on the scoreboard with best times and great placings.

New Sectional Cuts / Futures Cuts and BISC’s first Jr National Cut in several years by Tessa Hurguy. She also broke 5 team records held by former phenoms Alexa McDevitt/Sammy Segerson/Gracyn Kehoe & Sophie Segerson. Her 400IM time ranks her 5 in the US for 13/14-year-olds.  Her 200 Breast has her ranked 27th in the USA

Wyatt Majors and Leland Hilgers captured new Summer Sectional Cuts, while we had some really close calls on some new Futures time standards by Kyler Boyden, Aria Michael, Wyatt Livingston, Wyatt Majors and Ian Letson.  We are on our way folks. Someone breaks the glass, and everyone can walk through the door.

Kyler Boyden - Kyler brought the heat in his events, dropping a bunch of time along the way and sniffing at a new Futures cut in the 100 Breast. Most notably is that he dropped time in all races and in all the relays he participated in. Way to go, Kyler, great way to end the season!

William Browning - At his first Senior Champs, crushed his events, scored a massive 78 points and made the Western Zone Team for the second time.  He was super close to his very first Sectional cut as well.  William also dropped time in all his relay swims. He smashed his 100 back, 100th fly, 200 fly and 200 back. Really great showing for William!  Way to go dude!!!  2025 Zone Team Member!

Rylee DuPont - Rylee had a strong showing as well, scoring 46 points for her team. She dropped time in all of her individual swims, most notably her 200 free in the 800 free relay her 100 Back and 400 freestyle. Way to go kiddo! 2025 Zone Team Member!

Lena Everett – Lena - aka  “the world traveler” swam her heart out for her team and dropped time in all of the relays she was in. She also dropped 1.13 seconds in her 200 Free.  Given her travel schedule, I would say this meet was successful for her, but I know she was a little disappointed to not have bigger time drops.  We will get those in the future 😊

Romy Greer – Romi had a really nice meet as well. He dropped time in all of his events and in the relays.  He made finals in the 50 Breast and placed 6th in the 400 Free Relay that crushed their entry time by 9 seconds.  Looking for some great things by this young man as well.

Leland Hilgers - Leland had such a cool meet. Dropping tons of times in all of his individual events. Adding value to his relay teams, being a good leader and nabbing his first summer sectional cut in the 200 Back. He also dropped 34 seconds in the mile, 8.1 in the 200 Back, 32 seconds in the 400Free, 3.3 in 100 Back and all new PB for the Boys Relays. I owe you some gear my friend.  LETS GOOOOO!

Tessa Hurguy- Tessa smashed her competition at this meet, she won all but one of her individual events. She broke five team records. Garnered her first winter and summer junior national cuts and landed herself on this year's zone team.  Congratulations Tessa, Great work, this is gonna be fun! 2025 Zone Team Member!

Lola Jasperson – Lola was at her final meet with BISC.  She helped her relays get on the scoreboard and swim faster than entered times.  She had best times in the 200 Free by dropping 1.2, the 50 Fly she dropped 1.5.  Way to bring it!

Aiden Johnson - Aiden had a really strong meet as well, smashing some of his best times along the way and adding value to his relay teammates. He scored 21 points, and dropped 36 seconds in his 800 Free, 5 seconds in 400 Free, .83 in 50 Back, and was 7th in the Mile. Aiden has had some breakthroughs this season and we are hoping the momentum stays at his back.  Should be a great year for you. Way to go Aiden!

Ian Letson- Ian had some fantastic swims. Most notably his 400IM where he dropped a hard 5 seconds for a 4:47.4. He also just missed a futures cut in his 200 butterfly, which he'll get in the fall. I'm very sure of it. Ian scored 20 points for his team, swam on all the relays and brought some nice leadership to the pool deck.  Congrats Ian!

Fiona Livingston – Fiona was at her first Senior Champs and handled herself well. Starting with the 800 Free relay, she was in the hot seat and dropped a best time here to prove her place.  100 Breast she dropped 6.4, 400IM dropped 13.4, 200 Breast 2.4, 400 Free 9.1, 50 Breast 1.7,  200 Back 4.17.  It was fun to watch all the hard work pay off.  Way to go Fi!!!

Wyatt Livingston – Wyatt had a slightly different meet for him.  He didn’t take on all the long freestyle events this meet and focused on IM and Breast. He swam an outstanding lead off leg on the 800 Free Relay for a best time.  Dropped 3.7 in his 100 Breast and is scratching at that Futures Cut. Dropped another doozy of a swim in his 4IM by going 4:48 and a drop of 13.2 seconds.  He keeps chipping away at the Breaststrokes and did it again in the 100 with a drop of 3.7.  He added tons of value on all of his relay swims as well.

Olivia Longridge – Olivia and her smile brought, great team spirit and some time drops to this meet. She dropped in the 50 Fly, 4.7 200IM as well as dropping time on all of her relays.  Good things are in store Olivia, keep pushing…..I see a sub minute 100 back in your future.  Great work!

Wyatt Majors –  Wyatt was a big contributor to his team, scoring 92 points. He dropped 3.3 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, and just missed his Futures cut. He dropped 9.6 seconds in the 400 IM. Dropped 1.9 and the 200 IM. Drop 2.5 in the 200 back. And dropped 30.3 seconds in the 800 freestyle..   Way to go Wyatt!  2025 Zone Team Member!

Aria Michael –  Aria was also a big team point contributor, scoring 80 points for her team. She dropped 1.8 in the 100 backstroke, .26 and the 50 free, 1.3 in the 100 fly, 2.1 in the 200 fly, and was a huge contributor on all of her relays. She is scary close to her first Futures times as well.  Lets go Aria!  2025 Zone Team Member!

Tej Pal - Tej at his first Senior Champs meet had a breakout meet in my opinion.  Really great swims that should catapult him into the next season. Tej Dropped 2 1/2 seconds in his hundred breast, 5.7 seconds and his 200IM, 6 seconds and his 200 breaststroke, 8 1/2 seconds and it's 400 free, one second in his 100 breaststroke, and a whopping 35 seconds in his 800freestyle.  Very proud of this young man, Yeah Tej!

Lily Rehder - Lily had a really strong meet as well. She has been on a super consistent path upward in her swimming.  Lily had nice time drops in all of her individual events as well as being a main contributor to her relays successes. She got the added bonus of being able to come back for finals on the last day for an event that had a bobble in the morning.  She came back and crushed it. Very proud of these efforts and this young lady.  Go Lily!

Very proud of this group of kids.  Great way to end the season and I am already planning the next, so REST UP!

Cheers
