14U Championships & Winter Jr. Nationals 2025

BISC placed 9th out of 23 teams and was the top team among teams with less than 130 swimmers on their team rosters at the 14U PN SC Championships held at KCAC in Federal Way. We were able to achieve this because of our relays (relays score double points!) and the fact that a majority of our swimmers earned second swims at finals. Our commitment to the process of swimming fast, showed.

Our 10U swimmers shined.

Placing top 16 and earning points were both the boys & the girls 10U A  relays! The boys placed in both the 200 medley relay, 13th, with Spencer Slowik Jay Kowren, Buck Sanchez & Moses Wang and the 200 free relay, placed 9th, with Spencer, Buck, Moses & Henry Wolffe. The girls placed 12th in the 200 Medley relay with JJ Borovsky, Zoe Horn, Mika Moskin & Bailey LeMaster-Donahue and 12th in the 200 Fr relay with JJ, Abigail Gavigan, Mika & Bailey

We had 3 individual 10U racers: JJ Borovsky, Mika Moskin & Spencer Slowik. Spencer Slowik brought home the 10U Boys High Point trophy and was an event champion in 4 events (100 BK, 50 FR, 50 BK,100 FR). He came from slightly behind to earn 2nd in the 100 IM and 4th in the 200 IM. He swam both prelims and finals all 3 days, bettering his times from the morning swims each evening, and earned the most points on our team. All of his swims made the Regional meet qualifying times. JJ Borovsky swam in finals as well, medaling for her 100 FR (8th) and 200 IM (8th) and placing 8th in her timed final 500 FR. Her 100 BRST was also a personal best time. JJ showed great composure behind the blocks before her races. Mika Moskin had personal best times in all of her events (50 BRST, 100 FLY(Regional cut), & 100 IM) and had super swims on both the relays. Our 10U relay swimmers brought great energy to the meet with Saturday having very full sessions & over 900 swimmers. For those at their first champs meet we learned how to handle a big meet experience by being in one. Thank you to Rowan Shand, Poppy Freniere, Calder & Elinor Brelsford-LaBadie, Lukas Fort & Enoch Wang for racing on our B relays. It felt good to have a large presence at this high level meet.

Our 11 & 12 swimmers rose to the occasion.

The boys 400 medley relay team of Jonathan Fort, Alexander St. Cyr, Bennett Atchison & Larry Killigrew placed 15th and the girls 400 medley of Avery Britt, Margot Crawford, June Reeves & Emma Pocekovic swam a best time dropping 3 seconds finishing 19th, just past scoring position. We had 4 swimmers who also raced individual events with 2 earning their way back to finals. Bennett Atchison finaled in his 200 BK (13th) & 200 FR(8th) and was 4th in the 1650 FR(13yo Regional cut) & 6th in the 500 FR and set a new personal best in his 200 IM. Avery Britt finaled in the 100 BRST (13th place & Regional Cut), medaled in the 1650FR, placing 8th (Regional cut)and dropped time in both her 50 BRST(Regional cut) & 50 Fly. Margot Crawford dropped 4 seconds in her 200 IM, almost a second in her 50 BRST and just over 2 seconds in her 200 FR. Jonathan Fort set new personal best times in his 400 IM (dropping 17 sec), 200 BRST(dropping 3 sec) & 50 BRST(dropping 2 sec.). We have more work to do to have more relays & more finalists but like Coach Monique likes to say,” We can get there from here!”.

Our 13 & 14 swimmers were heavy hitters accumulating 357 points, almost half of our team’s total points.

The girl relay performed well with: Rylee DuPont, Abby Cimprich, Fiona Livingston & Aria Michael. (During the 400 FR relay Rylee picked up her Sectional cut in the 100 FR being the lead off swimmer.) They scored in all relays they swam (6th: 400 Medley Relay, 9th: 200 FR Relay & 7th:400 FR Relay). The boy relays of William Browning, Romy Greer, Surya Jain & Wyatt Majors also scored well placing 7th in the 200 Medley relay, 8th in the 400 Medley Relay, and 10th in both the 200 FR Relay and the 400 Free Relay.

The 13/14 girls who swam individual races, showed strength across all disciplines. Rylee DuPont was a super speedy sprinter earning 4th in the 50FR (Sectional cut) moving up 3 places from her prelim results, 9th in the 50 Fly, 7th in the 50 BK, 7th in the 100 FR, 5th in the 50 BRST and 14th in the 100 Fly.  Fiona LIvingston had some huge drops in longer events placing 8th in the 200 fly, 9th in the 400 IM (her first Sectional cut), 14th in the 200 BRST, 7th in the 200 FR, 9th in the 500 and wrapped it up with 37 sec. drop to earn 2nd in the 1650 FR (Sectional cut). Aria MIchael swam strong in prelims and even stronger in finals placing 7th in the 100 BK, 6th in the 200 Fly, 5th with Sectional times in both the 100 FR and 100 FLY, and dropped just over 6 sec. in the 500 FR to place 7th. Aria also made the PN All-Star Team.

The 13/14 boys' individual events were varied as well. Louis McKibbon dropped significant time to secure a Regional time in his 200FLY and had best times in his 50 Fly,100 fly and 100 FR(59.33) breaking through the minute barrier on that 100 FR for the first time as did Abby Cimprich in her 100FR relay swim. Dropping over 9 sec. in the 1650FR(Regional cut) earning 12th place was Surya Jain. Surya also had personal bests in his 50 FLY, 50 BK, 200 FR, and 500FR. Romy Greer finaled in his 50BK, moving up 2 spots in finals placing 10th and he finaled in his 50BRST, placing 13th. He had best time performances in his other races as well. (100 BRST, 200 BRST, 200 IM).  Our water pounding, team record breaker was Wyatt Majors. He had personal best times on all his swims plus set a new BISC team record in the 200BRST(2:09.90 & Sectional time). He placed 2nd in the 100 BRST(Sectional cut), 3rd in the 400 IM dropping 10 sec., 5th in the 200 BRST (breaking Brendan Kern's BISC record from 2019),and was 5th in the 200 IM & 50 BRST. He also dropped 8 sec. in the 500 FR to place 8th. Wyatt earned the second most points for our team and was also selected as a member of the PN All-Star team. William Browning tied Wyatt Majors for total points earned and also had all personal best time swims with significant time drops. He was 2nd in the 100 BK, 3rd in the 200FLY(dropping 4 sec. & his first Sectional cut), 9th in the 100 FR, 6th in the 200IM,(dropping 6 sec.), 4th in the 200 BK(dropping 4 sec.) and 3rd in the 100 FLY(dropping 2 sec.). These BISC swimmers just smashed it all weekend!

2025 Winter Junior Nationals in Austin Texas

We made the trek to Austin, Texas for Winter Junior Nationals for the first time since BISC last competed there way back in 2022. Tessa Hurguy (age 14) swam the 500 Free, 200IM, 400IM and 200 Breast at this elite competition.  Her first two events were a bit shaky due to the size and scope of this event.  The fastest 18 and under athletes in the country were in Austin.  Some compete on the National Team and some on the National Junior Team. After their morning workout some teammates watched and cheered Tessa on as she swam her 200IM on the USA swimming network as the event was live streamed. Tessa left the meet with 2 personal best performances. She PR’d in the 400IM (by 6 seconds) and in the 200 BR (by 2 seconds).  Good things to come in the future for this young lady.  Way to go Tessa!

A long weekend of racing and our swimmers were prepared & crushed it on all of their swims. Our training paid off as we all watched well executed, strong swims that our swimmers could celebrate and our swim community could be excited about.

Thank you Bainbridge for all your support, we don’t do this alone, it takes a whole community to care about aquatics to have a strong team.  Keep bringing it Bluefins! You are making it happen.
