WEST Weekly

Dear Parents,

It’s another important week around WEST as we prepare to finish off the short course season and start gearing up for the summer. Good luck to all our swimmers competing at Divisional Championships this weekend and welcome back to all our Senior Sectional swimmers. Age Group Regional swimmers are still on break and should be returning to swimming tonight or tomorrow.

Age Group Regionals Wrap-Up
Congratulations to all WEST swimmers that competed at the NW Age Group Regional Championships. We had some outstanding performances including multiple individual champions and several meet records from Connor Brunke, Jon Cook and Nicole Limberg.

We need chaperones for the Lock-In, please contact Nick if you are interested in helping out!

Meet Declaration Forms – Now PAST DUE
If you haven’t already turned in your Meet Declaration Form, please do so immediately otherwise you may miss out on attending Long Course meets this summer (meets fill fast so we must do our entries way ahead of time).

There will be one change to the Meet Schedule this summer (only effecting Senior group swimmers): We will NOT be attending the Mel Zajac Meet in Canada. The host team has lost the use of one of the pools so they are limiting the size of the meet and will be doing warm-up and warm-down in an end lane of the competition pool. Instead, we are considering attending Western Senior Zones as a team ( click here for Meet Information on Western Senior Zones).

April Changes to Come – IMPORTANT NOTICE
We will be making some structural changes to the program that will take effect Monday, April 7 th. Many of these changes apply to our Senior 2 program as we look to better our offerings following the popularity of this group.
  1. Coach Perry will move to the primary coach of Senior 2.
  2. We will be adding Dryland training to the Senior 2 schedule from 7-7:45pm Monday through Friday. We will be adding “optional” Senior 2 morning workouts on Fridays from 5-6:15am with our Senior group.
  3. We will be increasing the cost of Senior 2 to $200 per month (effective May 1 st, 2014) to accommodate the above changes.
  4. Group Move-Ups – a small number of swimmers will be moving-up training groups effective Monday, April 7 th. These will be communicated individually immediately following this weekend’s meet.
  5. Masters Practice Schedule Change – Bryan will be coaching Masters on Monday mornings 9-10:30am. We will not be having a coach present at Tuesday & Thursday early morning practices but will leave a workout.

We are very excited about the current direction of WEST. We have added 2 great new coaches to our staff ( click here for our Coach’s page) and we have had some amazing performances over the past championship meets. We strive to continue building a stronger program and appreciate your support, dedication and determination.

    happy swimming,
