Dear WEST Swim Folk,

I can’t believe September is almost to an end. Meets are starting up over the next couple weeks and Halloween is right around the corner! Cold season is also here, so please make sure you are eating right, getting your vitamins, and making sure you are getting enough sleep.

 

Morning Practice Start This Week

Senior Elite has 5am morning practices on Wed & Fri. Senior Group swimmers may also attend (please speak to coaches first). We want to make sure that swimmers are staying healthy and on top of school work, so please speak to coaches to discuss our expectations if you have questions.

 

Friday Night Senior Circuit Meet – THIS WEEK 9/30 – 4pm Warmup / 5pm Start

The first of the Senior Circuit Dual Meets kick off this week as we host Bellingham. We had to move the start time of the meet back to accommodate their travel time, so we will have to cancel our development group practices.

 

Friday Schedule Changes Due to Meet - NO PRACTICE: Senior, Explore, Discover & Pre-Comp.

 

Meet Declarations Online – Deadline October 7^th

Please view our Meet Events Page and let us know if you cannot attend any specific meets. If you cannot attend a single day of a meet, please select “cannot attend” and in the “notes” section let us know those details. If you do not declare, we will assume your swimmer plans to attend the meet and will enter him or her. Team Entry Fees are paid in advance and accounts will be billed accordingly whether your swimmer competes or not.

 

Parent Meetings – NEXT WEEK

We will be holding a series of informational parent meetings next week. These are a MUST for all new families and a good reminder for all returning families. We will cover topics such as fundraising, group parents, meet schedules and team & PNS website.

Monday 6:30pm – Senior & Senior Elite

Tuesday 6:30pm – Challenge & Accelerate

Wednesday 6:30pm – Explore & Discover

 

Olympian Clinic Program – 1^st Clinic – October 22^nd-23^rdb

We are participating in a brand new program and partnering with Kara Lynn Joyce for an unique year-long experience. All team members were billed $100 in addition to their Registration Fee (which we reduced by $50 to help offset the increase). In exchange, Kara Lynn Joyce is going to do 2 in person clinic weekends, including sessions for parents, swimmers and coaches. In addition to the clinics, she will do two webinar sessions with coaches and another with parents. When you consider the cost of most clinics, this is a great deal and a very special opportunity for our swimmers.

 

Reminder – All WEST Officials must renew their annual registrations.

If you would like WEST to pay for and renew your annual USA Swimming registration, please complete a Non-Athlete Member Form ( available here on the PNS site) and turn it in to the Front Office as soon as possible. We have extra forms at the office, so you can do it there as well.

 

October Challenge – Next Weekend (10/8-10/9)

Swimmers from all groups (only select swimmers from Senior Elite) will compete at the October Challenge next weekend at Kamiak High School. Check the Meet Info page on the PNS site where you can find information on warm-up times (by clicking on the Meet Announcement) and the timeline and psych sheet (once they are posted).
