Community Meet & Parent Meeting Review
Our Community Meet went swimmingly this past Saturday and was a great opportunity for our WEST swimmers to show their team pride at the end of spirit week. This year we introduced our Blue vs Green Intersquad Showdown and many swimmers went personal best times, resulting in the Green Team winning by 19 points!
Thank you to all our parents that came to support their swimmer and attend the parent meeting. Click here to review the itinerary from the meeting. Highlights include the change of volunteering requirements (especially for WEST hosted meets at KCAC) and the addition of our Team Store this season. We will have our suit sizing kit through this week; If you have questions on what to order, stop in during office hours to try on a suit.
Other highlights to know are where to find our policies and forms, as this will be helpful information that is used in conjunction with our registration packet. Events is where we will find Upcoming Meets and Team Social Events. If you have any questions, refer to this email and reach out to your group coach.
If your swimmer did not pick up their Swim-a-thon individual prize that was announced at the banquet, please email in to Coach Tim.
Senior Circuit #1 & Knowledge Bowl
WEST’s first senior circuit will be this Friday evening for Senior & Senior Elite swimmers. Swimmers are expected to show up for their normal practice time at 3:15. Meet is set to start at 5:00pm.
The Knowledge Bowl will be immediately following the meet in the WEST gym for those participating senior swimmers. They will be facing off with the Mighty Marlins to see who will claim bragging rights over trivia. Snacks will be provided!
Schedule Changes for the Week
No Team Practice Changes.
Morning Practices Begin THIS WEEK
Morning practices will begin for Senior Elite, Senior and Accelerate swimmers at their appropriate time slots (Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 5:00am - 6:30am.) Remember to stay proactive with your individual schedules to stay healthy during the fall time; see you all bright and squirrely!
WEST Caps / 2019 - 2020 Season Shirts
As a reminder, each team swimmer will be given either 2 latex caps or 1 silicone cap at the beginning of each season. Additional caps are available in the front office. Caps will be given out before our first meet. If your team suit does not arrive before the first meet - no sweat. Wear last years suit or a generic blue / black suit. Shirts are being ordered for the swimmers and we hope to have them before the first meet as well. WEST will NOT be running personalized caps this year.
Upcoming Olympian Clinic
Mark your calendars, WEST will be hosting Olympian Lia Neal on October 11 - 12. Lia Neal is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in freestyle events. In her Olympic debut at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she won a bronze medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay. In 2016, she won a silver medal in the same event at Rio de Janeiro. WEST is incredibly excited to have her next month!
