WEST Weekly - Plan for April
Good Afternoon WEST,
As you know, the Stay-at-Home Order has been extended to May 4th. This means that the earliest WEST will be able to open will be Tuesday, May 5th and may change if the order is extended. With so many variables up in the air, we wanted to share with our members what we have been working on these past few days regarding our operations. WEST, like many other families, is facing hard times and we will do our best to help out our community members in need.
As a non-profit, we operate with little to no black in the budget and are preparing to operate this year at a loss. We have applied for the Federal Payroll Protection Program to help alleviate, but not eliminate, our necessary operating costs during the shutdown. WEST is more than just a swim team - we are an aquatic community; and as a community we all have an obligation to maintain our facility.
Below is the breakdown by program to see how we are financially handling credits during the closure, as no refunds have been issued. With cancelling our Swim-A-Thon this year and waiving all Club Team mandatory minimum fundraising requirements, every bit helps. WEST relies heavily on the support of our members to continue operating and as a 501-3c non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible.
Swim Lessons: As lessons for April are cancelled, credits from March & April have been applied and will remain on lesson accounts until they are used. When we are allowed to reopen, we will aim to open lessons registration roughly one week prior.
Facility Use Memberships, Swim Fit Conditioning, Pre-Comp Program: will receive 100% credited back for the month of April. If you are able to donate your dues, we greatly need and appreciate it, just please let the office know.
Year-Round Club Team Members: WEST is committed to serving our community by maintaining the pool and doing our best to send workouts and hold video conferences for the athletes. We have looked at our monthly financials and need a little over 30% of all team training fees to cover our other monthly operating costs (after reducing whatever we can and not factoring any payroll expenses).
Anyone facing long-term financial hardship and requires assistance beyond April, needs to apply for our Financial Aid program. We will allow families to reduce or eliminate their monthly training fees for the month of April, just please email the office and let Amber know what you can afford and your account will be credited back accordingly. Any families that can pay their monthly dues, we strongly urge you to continue to do so as our team & organization as a whole needs the help, now more than ever.
Our coaches and office staff are working tirelessly to maintain and improve our vision for what WEST can be. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
Best,
WEST Coaching Staff
