Governor Roll Back of Reopening

Nick Chevalier
As most of you are aware by now, Governor Inslee has rolled back the reopening plan for Washington. These changes will drastically impact how we are allowed to operate, as we are now only allowed 5 patrons in the facility at one time (5 customers, separate from staff). These changes go into effect Thursday, July 30th.

Negotiations between Aquatic Managers, PNS Coaches and the Governor’s office are ongoing. There is hope that they may relax the most recent restrictions, but we need to move forward in communicating our tentative plan. If there are changes that allow us to accommodate more people, we will update our plan and communicate with everyone as soon as possible.

We have reworked our lane schedule to accommodate the new mandate. Unfortunately, not all programs can continue given these constraints, and Summer Team will not be continuing (unless something changes). Here is our lane schedule for all programs, we will email new practice times when we send our lane assignments. We have broken down the impact specific to each program listed below:

Lap Swim
We are reducing the number of available lanes to 5 and members of the same household must now reserve separate lanes. We have expanded lap swim offerings to accommodate more swimmers using the pool on their own. Summer Team and Club Team swimmers over the age of 13 are allowed to reserve lanes but must follow the same procedures as outlined in our reopening plan.

Summer Team
Due to the new lane space limitations, we cannot continue to operate Summer Team. We are currently evaluating swimmers and will communicate individually with any swimmers that are ready for the Club Team (to start Thurs 7/30). Summer Team families will receive a partial credit to their account for the cancellation, please note that some registration and administrative costs cannot be recovered. We hope everyone not yet ready for Club Team can return to either Pre-Comp or SwimFit in the fall. In the meantime, please continue with Private Lessons and/or Lap Swim to stay in the water. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Lessons
We will continue to offer Private and Semi-Private Lessons both for independent swimmers and Parent & Tot style beginner classes. We have expanded our lessons offerings to accommodate Summer Team and Club Team swimmers looking for more coaching due to the reductions in practice time. To manage our 5 customers at-a-time limitations parents must wait outside (either in their car or on the back lawn outside of the sliding door) unless attending a Parent & Tot class. All lesson times must be requested via email and paid for at the time of scheduling. Email [email protected] to schedule or answer any questions you have.

Club Team
The Club Team will continue to operate and swimmers will be divided into groups of 5. Swimmers will have pool practices 3 days per week with groups alternating either Monday, Wednesday & Friday or Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. We will email out practice assignments directly to each group.

We will be adding Open Water practices back on Mondays and Tuesdays for Challenge through Senior Elite and additional Senior Group outdoor dryland at WEST on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Senior Swimmers have been given access to the Engineered Sports Swimmer’s Performance App and should be following along at home, logging their workouts through the App so we can monitor them. Age Group swimmers will have two Zoom Drylands per week. We are still working out all the details, and everyone should receive an invite directly from Engineered Sports.

Open Water Swims
We will be holding Open Water practices on Mondays and Tuesdays at Martha Lake (starting 8/3). Senior swimmers will swim 8-9am and Challenge and Accelerate swimmers will swim 8:30-9:30am. Those wishing to join must email in advance (24hrs) so we know who to expect. Wetsuits are not required, participation is voluntary and at-your-own-risk.

Senior Groups Dryland Runs @ West
On Wednesday and Thursdays (for those swimmers not swimming that day) we will be doing group runs (approximately 3 miles) that start and end at the pool. Swimmers will turn right out of the parking lot, turn left onto Village Green Drive and continue as it turns into Mill Creek Blvd. At Holly Community Park, the athletes will enter the Mill Creek Nature Preserve Trails and continue until the path (big hill) that connects to the MCCA Hoa Building (do not walk behind the Maintenance Building, stay on the sidewalk / path at all times). We will provide maps and swimmers will run in small groups staggered from each other. Click here to view the map. Participation is voluntary and at-your-own-risk.
