Positive Covid Case at Swim Meet (Kamiak H.S.) - Sun 2/6 11:30am-2pm (15&O Session ONLY)
Attention WEST Community,
We just had a recent Covid exposure reported at the WEST hosted swim meet at Kamiak High School this past weekend. The swimmer was from another team and swam during the 15 & Over (middle) session on Sunday.
Parent volunteers and any swimmers at the meet on Sunday 2/6 between 11:30am-1:30pm should isolate and monitor for symptoms. Those swimmers will need to stay out from practice for 5 days and may return on Saturday 2/12. Swimmers not at the meet or who have recently recovered from Covid-19 (within 90 days) are clear to continue practicing. Coaches will send out Dryland workouts for the impacted swimmers to be done from home.
Symptoms Reminder: we are seeing in multiple cases the onset of mild symptoms starting while continuing to test negative for 2-3 days. If you experience symptoms coming on (scratchy throat, runny nose, head and body aches, etc) you need to stay out for 5 days. We recommend waiting at least 3 days before getting tested to confirm whether you may have Covid, since you could test negative initially and still be infected. If your symptoms have improved and you do not test positive, you may return to the pool after day 5.
