Golda Marcus appointed Head Coach of the Pacifica Sea Lions

Board of Directors

We are thrilled to announce that Golda Marcus will join the Pacifica Sea Lions as our new Head Coach! Her first day on deck will be Monday, May 12.

Golda brings a remarkable background as both an elite swimmer and an experienced coach. A two-time Olympian who represented her birth country, El Salvador, in the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games, she still holds the Salvadorian national records in the ladies' 400m and 1500m freestyle. She has earned 21 international medals and competed in World Championships and the Pan American Games.

Golda swam Division I at Florida State University, where she earned her BA in English (Creative Writing), followed by an MFA. Since relocating to California in 2008, she’s spent the last 17 years coaching swimmers of all levels, including 12 years at De Anza Cupertino Aquatics and 5 years at Burlingame Aquatic Club.

She is deeply committed to swimmer development—both in and out of the pool—and is currently working on her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential. Golda is also an active Masters swimmer and open water marathon swimmer, having completed swims across the San Francisco Bay, the full width of Lake Tahoe, and more.

Golda is excited to bring her knowledge, energy, and love of the sport to PSL. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome—we’re excited for this next chapter!
