PST This Week - 5/19/24

PST Town Hall:

We will be announcing changes to our team structure for the 2024/25 swim season including fee increases, service hour adjustments, group structure changes, and more.

Every family that is planning to continue with PST should make every effort to join us virtually via Google Meet on Wednesday, May 29th at 7pm. A 1 hour service hour credit will be given to every family attending (ensure to list your full name when joining to receive credit).

The FlipTurn:

Our monthly Coaches/ Swimmers newsletter for May, the FlipTurn, has now beenpublished. Please share with your swimmers!

Dive Lessons:

This summer, we have an exciting opportunity to help your swimmers become more confident in their dives. These are 30-minute 1:1 diving lessons with Coach Zoe at ECCL on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. The lessons cost $25/slot, and the charge will be added to your PST account on the first of the following month.

To register your swimmer, visit our events page (dive lessons), click on job sign up and put your swimmer's name in the note section.

PST Team Captain Application for the 2024/25 Swim Season:

Our fantastic Team Captain, Josie Oesterer, is graduating from high school and will start her studies at the University of California, Berkeley, this fall. We are incredibly grateful for Josie's leadership over the last two seasons. Josie has made a massive difference to our team atmosphere and helped us grow as an organization. Even though we will miss her deeply, we are excited for Josie and wish her the best of fortune in this next and exciting chapter of her life.

Check out Josie’s moving message to PST on Instagram

We are now looking for swimmers who want to become PST’s team captain for the 2024/25 (and possibly through ’26) swim season. Applicants must be in their Junior or Senior year of High School to be considered.

Please read the attached PDF file carefully for more information about the role, how to apply, and the application deadline.

Reno Gamble Age Group Meet:

The rooms at the Grand Sierra Resort being held for PST at the block room rate have been fully reserved. There is still availability at the hotel through the general reservation system that can be accessed via their website at https://www.grandsierraresort.com/ or by calling 1 800 501-2651.

Although we hope the team can stay in the same hotel, we understand that families have different preferences when traveling. Fortunately there are many hotels in Reno that are a short distance from the Grand Sierra that can accommodate families' various needs.

The Reno 2024 meet sheet was released and we can confirm that swimmers who are 13 yrs and older will need to be at the pool by 7:30am on Friday June 21st for warm ups. Swimmers who are 12 yrs and under will need to be at the pool by 1:00pm for warm ups. Please plan accordingly.

SafeSport:

Mental Health Awareness Month, recognized annually in May, honors and educates on mental health conditions and their challenges. In swimming, athletes must identify and overcome several challenges, including mental health obstacles, to be successful on and off the deck. Read more from USA Swimming here.

Thank you for being part of PST’s shared commitment to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Officials Corner:

What motivates people to volunteer as officials?  The common things I hear are that they love the sport of swimming and enjoy feeling useful.  Does this sound like you?  If volunteering as an official interests you, please reach out to Osa Wolff, PST’s officials coordinator.
