Welcome

The RBG Swim Team is a fun individual sport for children ages 4-18. It is a great way to exercise, keep cool, and have fun during the summer. The only prerequisite is that your child is able to swim one length of the pool without stopping or touching the lane ropes. *If you have a new swimmer to the program they will be given an opportunity to complete a swim test to ensure they can swim the length of the pool successfully. This will occur the week prior to the start of practice.

We are glad to have you as part of the team and look forward to your participation as well as your child’s. Parent participation is not only welcomed, but truly appreciated. It is the coaching and parental support that makes RBG Swim Team the best in the county! Please see a board member to find out where your talents can be best utilized.

What Every Parent Should Know

We want all of the swimmers on the team to stay in the best health as possible this swim season.  Therefore, it is important for parents to follow the following tips to help keep your swimmer healthy and strong throughout the summer.

1. Skin Care: Sunscreen should always be worn when swimming or observing! A waterproof, no-sweat formula is usually the best, as they do not need to be reapplied as often. Cover-ups, such as large T-shirts are also a good idea.

2. Ear Care: Swimmer’s Ear is a common condition for competitive swimmers. Therefore, it is important to keep the ear as dry as possible.  After swimming, use an over-the-counter eardrop solution designed for swimmer’s ear. A few drops of alcohol may also be used. Wearing earplugs or a swim cap will also help.

3. Rest: It is important for the swimmer to get plenty of rest. An early bedtime will prove rewarding and will result in better swim times. Lots of extra calories will be used during swim practice so fuel the body with foods that will produce lots of energy (not junk food).

A tired swimmer is usually a grumpy swimmer!

Timers

Each team at all swim meets is responsible to provide a timers at swim meets. This is a requirement for all families to time once during the season. If you are not able to fulfill your timing responsibility for any reason you may pay a $40 fee and we will cover your timing duty.

Relays line up under the RBG Tents 30 minutes prior to the events.  Relays run very quickly and it is important that you show up on time.  If you are late, you may be scratched and replaced by another swimmer. You will find your event number and name on a sign attached to the tent. Please line up in your swimming order. Parents are needed as escorts.
