Happy Birthday Coach April!

(Note to anyone who hopes to express their birthday greeting in-person on her birthday: Coach April will not be at practice on Saturday, and will be out all of next week. Practices will be covered by the assisant coaches.)

Congratulations to Larry (breaststroke and distance freestyle), Jessica (distance freestyle), and Steve (freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke) for swimming at the March Madness meet over the weekend, and to Mariann for upgrading all four strokes at the PNA swim clinic.

News for the week:

  • Registration for PNA Champs is open! This is the only meet where BAMmers represent our workout group (BAM) instead of our team (Puget Sound Masters). It’s a two-day meet (April 13 and 14) held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
  • And before the April PNA Champs are complete, the next championship meet is already on the calendar: the PNA LCM Champs will be held July 6-7. More information as it becomes available.
  • Update on the Ray Williamson Pool Revitalization project: an email was sent out on Tuesday with continuing information (see attached). A couple key quotes from that email:
    • “At the March 7th board meeting, the Park Board committed funding for the base rehabilitation project (six-lane renovation) while remaining open to community fundraising for pool expansion (eight-lane renovation.)”
    • “At the March 21, 2024 Board meeting, the Park Board will evaluate the community interest and fundraising options to address the additional $5.5 million estimated for the expense to expand the pool in the Phase 2B option.”

Members of the public are welcome to attend the Thursday, March 21 General Board Meeting in-person or virtually. The Park Dept is also asking for feedback via a survey.
