BAM Pool Closure Practice Schedule / BAM Meetings
| Hello Wonderful Masters Swimmers! Happy Friday everyone! And almost happy holidays. We are happy to be able to reach out to you with some much-anticipated information about the BAM program schedule during our Ray Williamson pool closure. This information represents a lot of hard work on behalf of BIPARKS, your coaches and me. We are aware that there are some nervous feelings about the closure, but never fear! We will work hard and get through it together! Couple things you should know up front: -This practice schedule is set to run from Feb. 14 (Ray pool shutdown day) to mid-June. Every schedule we create and put out during the closure period will be seasonal. A new schedule will come out for Summer and then again for Fall. Pool and practice schedules change seasonally and are reassessed often, and we will continue to follow that model. As soon as we know of an upcoming schedule change, we will get it out to you. -The master pool schedule for the Aquatic Center (all programs) is set to be live on our website on Friday, January 17th. This schedule was put together with every aquatic center participant in mind and is an even distribution of space. But at this point, it is not yet tested. We will continue to assess and make small tweaks as we learn more about who continues to participate and when the pool is most crowded. -You all had amazing responses and questions from the survey that coach April sent out. We want to answer all those questions. As such we will have two BAM participant meetings that you can attend to discuss the closure and voice your concerns. Please feel free to join us on Tuesday, January 7th at either 10:30am or 6:30pm at the Aquatic Center. -Your coaches and I worked very hard to plan a schedule where everyone still has the opportunity to swim as much as possible. We will continue to offer a 1, 2 and 3 tier payment system and if you are flexible with your practices, you will be able to continue to register for 3 practices a week if desired. If you want to change your practice visit allowance, please make sure to submit your paperwork by Jan. 15 for a change on Feb. 1 or by Feb. 10 for a change on March 1. -While we continue to explore other offsite options at other venues for practice, the site we have chosen to add to our practice schedule is located at Olympic High School in Silverdale. I invite you to check it out. The pool is almost identical to the Ray Williamson pool in spacing (6 lanes), has colder water and has starting blocks available for use. The times we have chosen to practice there have very minimal traffic and will help us keep everyone in the water. -If you choose to incorporate normal lap swim times into your weekly workout at the Aquatic Center during the Ray closure, please be aware that we still offer the normal add on monthly lap swim fee for BAM members ($25 a month). Please be very accommodating to the other non-BAM lap swimmers as there will be A LOT of space sharing and they are not used to that. You can help educate folks on circle swimming and be advocates of the positivity of the BAM program. But space will be tight. Everyone has the right to get into the pool, regardless of swimming ability. Let’s work together to keep everyone in the water! -If you have immediate questions or concerns that cannot wait until the meeting day, please reach out to myself or your coaches and we will try to help. It is the holidays and so communication may be slow. I want to say how proud I am to work with this team and coaching staff, truly the best coaches I have come across in my career. We are asking you to put a lot of trust into them to create/run a program that will not only sustain, but also grow your program to new heights and achievements.
