BAM News: Congrats PNA Champs Swimmers!

Bainbridge Aquatic Masters
Happy Wednesday, BAM!

Congrats to all the BAMmers who attended PNA Champs. These swimmers gathered behind the blocks a combined total of 101 times, earning 555 points – fourth place! – for BAM.
Special shout-out to Meegan and Kathleen for swimming in their first-ever meet, and to Dennis and Kate for setting new PNA records!

What do Toni, Bill, Kathleen, Kate, Dennis, Amanda, Cathy, and I all have in common? We all -- 40% of the team! -- placed dead last in every individual event that we swam at PNA Champs. These “last place” finishes also earned:
  • four 1st place finishes (if you’re the only swimmer in an event in your age group, you get first and last place)
  • eleven 2nd place finishes
  • six 3rd place finishes
  • two 5th place finishes
  • two PNA records (go Kate!), and
  • 169 points toward the team total!
Without these last place points, BAM would have dropped from fourth to eighth place in the team competition. Every swimmer and every swim contributed to BAM's success.

News for the week:
  • Bring your patience and a little extra time to the pool next week! The Park District is switching to new sign-up and registration software. (This will not affect most BAMmers.)
“You may already be aware that starting Monday, April 21 we are switching sign-up and registration software at our front desk. This has taken intense time and work for the past 6 months to accomplish and prepare.  All of your existing information and swim passes (now "memberships") should have transferred to the new software system (ACTIVENet) and you should be able to scan in as normal.  But these things never go quite perfectly, and we want you to be prepared to stop and update your info if necessary.  Existing pass holders will also receive an email next week with login information and instructions on how to access your account online.  This system is far more user friendly, and we will detail the benefits in another email at a later time. Thank you for your help and patience!”

  • Reminder: the SignUp no longer closes on Sunday! For the next 2 weeks, you will be able to continue signing up for your practices all the way up to the day of the practice, just like you did before the construction closure.
    • SignUp restrictions for Level 3 swimmers will lift on Sunday
    • You are welcome to add or change your SignUps as needed.
    • Please cancel your SignUp if you will not be able to make it to practice, to make space available to your teammates.
    • SignUps are still required. Please do not “drop in” if you are not signed up. Signing up immediately before practice is absolutely okay.
    • There will still be limits on the number of swimmers at each practice.
  • During these next 2 weeks, practices will continue to be monitored to see if more BAMmers sign up for what are (so far) our smallest practices. If those practices continue to be sparsely attended, then the pool space will be released for other programming.
    • Since the SignUp doesn’t close, if you suddenly find yourself available to swim at lunch time, or on an early Saturday morning, then you can sign up and come on in!
    • Our Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 and 1:30 coaches, Kate and Leilani, are giving great personalized feedback at the practices with the fewest swimmers! If you are looking for more time in the pool, these practices are a great choice.

See you at the pools.
