BAM News: BAMFest 2025!
Happy Wednesday, BAM!
Its existence has been questioned… rumors circulated that it was just a myth… supposed sightings were unverifiable… but I’m here to announce that it is real, it is true, and it is happening:
BAMFest 2025
Sunday, October 12 at the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center
BAMFest is our annual home meet. It is a chance to race with the home-pool advantage; a chance to show off our fabulous facility (the hot tub is particularly popular with visitors); and a chance to raise money for the BAM Boosters (so they can buy more equipment, host more parties, and support Coach April at more coaching clinics). For many BAMmers, it is their one-and-only meet. Last year we had an impressive 55 BAMmers sign up to swim at BAMFest – nearly one-third of the team!
Even more impressive? We had over 100 volunteers, almost all of them BAMmers and their friends and family members. BAMFest has a reputation as a well-run event that is particularly welcoming to those who are new to the world of swim meets, and this is large part due to the number of people willing to pitch in. Some of these volunteer roles are hard-core (our volunteer coordinator, Kathleen Stearns, has already been at work for a couple months), most are much less intense (four hours as a timer or two hours as an on-deck volunteer on the day of the meet), and others can be done almost entirely on your own time (purchasing or making food for the snack bar). Over the next few weeks I’ll describe some of the roles where we need help, and I hope that everyone who has the availability and inclination to sign up will do so.
News for the week:

BAMFest is all the news we need this week!
See you at the pool.
