BAM News: Save the Dates!, BAMFest, and BAMFest Volunteers

The Pumpkin 500 is back! Long-time members of the team will remember this event that brings Masters and age-group swimmers together in pursuit of a common goal: to swim the 500 Free. The event will be on Saturday, October 25 th – more information coming soon.
 
The BAM Boosters Holiday Potluck will be Saturday, December 13 at the American Legion Hall. A great way to learn what your teammates look like without a cap and goggles.
 
Two upcoming meets (after BAMFest): the SAM Invitational on Sunday, November 9, and the Short Course Meters Zone Championships on Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23.
 
Registration for BAMFest ends at 11:59PM on Sunday. Nervous about entering a swim meet? Enter as a relay-only swimmer! Relays are the best part of the meet, and you have the support of three teammates for the race. Worried that you’ll “slow the relay down”? Mind-shift: without you, this relay wouldn’t exist and the other swimmers would be watching from the side. They’re not worried about your speed (or lack thereof), they’re happy you joined them so they can swim a relay!
 
Thank you to the many, many BAMmers who have already volunteered . Over 50% of the volunteer slots have already been filled! If you haven’t signed up yet but are looking for a way to fill a couple hours on Sunday, October 12, sign up to be a pool deck volunteer and take your place at the Snack Bar, at the Awards table, or in the lobby as the Greeter. Is your weekend already packed? Volunteer to bring food! You can pick up a box of granola bars and drop it off at the pool in the days leading up to the meet. Can’t volunteer because you’re swimming, but you have friends or family coming to watch you race? Ask them if they’d be interested in volunteering so they don’t get bored between your races.

  • Coach April is offering one last meet practice, complete with block start training, at the 11:45 practice on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Look for it in the SignUp.
