For years it has been a goal of mine to have a mixed BISC/BAM event, and I’m so excited it’s finally happening. Check out the attached heat sheet – there are BAM swimmers mixed with BISC swimmers in almost every heat! Counters are needed, so volunteers are welcome to come join the fun.
Reminder: due to USA Swimming Minor Athlete Protection Policies, participants 18 and older must use the family changing rooms and will not be allowed in the general locker rooms.

News for the week – and there’s a lot of it:
Meets/Events
  • Registration for the Snohomish Aquatics Masters Invitational Meet is open! Join Melissa and Heather on Sunday, Nov 9 at 9:00 (warm up at 8:00) at the Snohomish Aquatic Center.
  • Sadly, the Short Course Meter Zone Champs on Nov 22-23 have been cancelled.
  • Are you a swimmer who considers the Pumpkin 500 to be barely a warmup? Is a 3000 or 6000 more your style? Register for the 3000/6000 Virtual Championship! Coach April has reserved two lanes in two time slots on two days for swimmers who are up to the challenge. Check the weekly SignUp to reserve your space on Tuesday, Oct. 28 or Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 11:45a to 1:00p or from 1:00p to 2:15p (no more than two swimmers per lane). Swimmers must have their own counter/timer to track their progress. Curious but uncertain? Chat with Andi Hunt or Cindy Ruggerio for words of wisdom from experienced participants.
  • Did you enjoy the stroke-focused work we did in September, and want to do more? There will be a Stroke Development Clinic on Sunday, November 16 in Vancouver, Washington, from 8:00a to 12:30p. (Note that the announcement says 5:00a to 9:30a – that’s Eastern Time, which translates to 8:00a to 12:30p local time.) Register to learn tips, tricks, and technique.
Ray Pool
  • See the paint swatches on the walls in Ray? Vote for your favorite to replace the blue walls in the Ray pool (white sections will remain the same). Look for the voting tables under the swatches.
  • BAMmers: please use only the Nakata bathrooms. The bathroom in the newly renovated section of Ray is intended to be a dry, staff-only bathroom. If you need to use the facilities during practice, please use the ones available in Nakata.
Schedule Changes and Save the Date
  • BISC is hosting a swim meet on Saturday and Sunday, Nov 1 and 2. BAM’s Saturday practices will run per normal, but the men’s and women’s locker rooms will be closed for the second practice (family changing rooms will be available).
  • There will be no practice on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans’ Day. The pool will be operating under a modified schedule; BAMmers are welcome to use their BAM membership to swim during lap swim hours.
  • Reminder: the BAM Boosters will host the annual Holiday Potluck at 5:00p on Saturday, December 13, at the American Legion Hall. Everyone is welcome! Didn’t get the invitation? Send an email to [email protected] and ask to be put on the mailing list.
See you at the pool.
