SHARK ASSISTANTS!
Do you like to work with younger swimmers? Do you want experience as a junior coach? Do you want to help the CHCCR Sharks be the best team we can be? Then we want YOU as a Shark Assistant!!!! Under the guidance of the coaches, Shark Assistants help our younger swimmers during practices and meets by providing in-water support, encouragement, and leadership. Shark Assistants are an important part of CHCCR's swim team. Any swimmer who is 13 or older can be a Shark Assistant.
Additional information on what it means to be Shark Assistant can be found below:
Practices:
- Must arrive 15 minutes before practice begins to set out kickboards and bring out lane lines
- Work with 6 & unders, and 7 & 8s if necessary during their practice times
- Encourage kids and correct their stroke (don’t be afraid to hold them or act out strokes if necessary)
- Help clean up kickboards and other equipment and such after practice
- Stay after to put lane lines away
Meets: It’s not necessary to work with kids during warmups; you guys need to warm up too! For all 8 and under events, be at the starting blocks to encourage them, get them excited and make sure they have fun. For relays: at least one shark assistant should be on each end of the pool, encouraging the kids and helping them stay organized. CHEERING! Remember that you are a role model!
