Mock Meet Tonight!! What to Expect.
Hello Sharks --
Mock Meet is Today and the weather is looking to cooperate!! Team shirts, caps, and swag will be available to pick up tonight during the mock meet. You can also purchase a team magnet.
Here is everything you need to know for the Mock Meet:
1. The Mock Meet will REPLACE the evening practice slots, but your ARRIVAL TIME IS EARLIER. See Schedule:
- 4:15pm - Chaperones Arrive
- 4:30 pm - Swimmers Arrive
- 4:45 pm - Warm-Ups Begin
- 5:00 pm – All Other Volunteers Arrive
- 5:20 pm - Star-Spangled Banner
- 5:30 pm - Meet Starts
2. What to pack: Swimmers should arrive in their team suit (if purchased). They should pack TWO towels (one to sit on and one to dry with). Cap and goggles. Kids can get a little cold getting in and out of the water, so please make sure to bring WARM CLOTHES to wear in between events (sweat shirts, sweat pants, etc.). Healthy NUT FREE snacks and plenty of water. ALLERGY ALERT - we have severe peanut / nut allergies on our team. Please make every effort to avoid these types of snacks. Something to entertain your younger swimmer while they wait but it WILL get wet so please don’t bring electronics. Label everything!
3. What to expect: The Mock Meet is a practice swim meet. You can expect that there will be a lot of instructions for swimmers, parent volunteers in new positions, etc. We also have a LOT of kids that are NOT in Swimmingly yet. Please see instructions below and/or stop by and get help at the meet. PLEASE be patient with everyone on deck - especially the volunteer parent reps and coaches who have worked hard just to make the meet happen.
4. Sportsmanship: Our goal every year for this team is to win the league Sportsmanship Award. It all begins tomorrow ... let's practice how we plan to play!!!! Regardless of your volunteer role or if you are just a parent on deck, please help encourage the following:
- Swimmer should stay in the water and in his lane until EVERY swimmer in the heat has reached the wall.
- Swimmer should shake hands / elbow bump (if comfortable of course) with swimmers on either side of his/her lane
- Swimmers should cheer on great swims for every swimmer.
Parents / Fans - be welcoming and respectful. Cheer on swimmers, help swimmers with googles, etc. Clean up trash, respect our coaches (there is a time and place to talk with coaches - in the middle of a meet is NOT one of those times). Embrace the Shark Spirit .... Wear your team shirt, gather around our swimmers and the diving board for our pre-meet pep rally, HAVE FUN, and celebrate the SWIM ... keep in mind that the swimmer who comes in last place may just have had his/her PERSONAL BEST TIME!!!
5. Snack Bar will be OPEN.
