Sharks WIN in Nail Biter and First Home Meet
Hi Sharks,
We came away with the WIN yesterday against TCAT! It was very tight, coming down to the last relay we were down a few points, but we came away with the W!! Awesome work to all of our super-fast Sharks and thank you Volunteers for sticking out this long meet.
We have our first HOME meet against Exchange on Wednesday at 5pm. Please make sure to Declare your swimmer (Deadline is today, Sunday June 8th) and sign up to volunteer (details below). The first home meet is extra special because we’ll take our team picture before the meet, so please wear your Shark shirt and please plan to volunteer.
To accommodate the team picture, we ask that folks show up a few minutes early:
- 3:15 Chaperones
- 3:30 Swimmers
- 3:45 Team picture
- 4:00 Warmups
- 4:20 All other volunteers arrive – timers meeting will be at 4:40pm
- 5:00 Meet start!
Reminder, for 10 and under Sharks, please check your children in with the parent chaperone’s, do not just “drop” them off. This is important to ensure that all kids get checked-in for the meet. Also, you must stay on the deck during the meets. All meets require attendance of at least one parent or responsible adult (19 years old or older) for swimmers age 10 and under.

Sign Up to Volunteer at the meet - if your child is swimming ... Please plan to VOLUNTEER. To volunteer for the mock meet, please follow the same steps as you did to declare your child, but click on job assignment instead. Volunteer Positions for Dual Meet:
- Chaperones - Plan to stay until the end of the meet. The exception is for 6-Under chaperones as they can leave when the 6 & under events are done. We need 6 chaperones for 6 & U and 7-8, 4 for 9-10, and 2 for 11-12. Chaperones mark swimmers with their name and age, sit with your assigned age group, line up swimmers with their event cards and deliver them to Clerk of Course. This is the ultimate mother/father hen role.
- Timer - Plan to stay until the end of the meet. We need 24 total timers, three timers for each lane. Eight of the 16 volunteers will use a manual stop watch. The others will need a phone because swimmers will be timed using an app on your phone. We will send a separate e-mail on how to download the app.
- Head Timer- Call the timer huddle and run 2 stop watches for each race to be used as back-ups in case any manual timer fails to start their watch on time.
- Clerk of Course (2) - Line up swimmers in order by heat and combine heats as often as possible to speed up the meet.
- Runner (1) - Collect information from timers to bring to scorekeeping. Also, assist timers by bringing around water bottles.
- Scorekeeper (2) - Enter meet results on iPad (sitting, usually shaded)
- Stroke & Turn Judges (2) - Official position; watch swimmers to insure they are using proper stroke/kick techniques (requires 1.5 hour training session from the CHSSL)
- Heat Winner Ribbons (1) -Hand out a heat winner ribbon to the first place swimmer in each heat.
- Starter (1) - Official position. Start swimmers in each race with amplified announcing (Requires CHSSL training).
