Hi Sharks,

Last practice is in the books and now it is time for CHAMPS!! This is it. Let’s go SHARKS. Here are more details on timelines, where to park, etc.

CHAMPS is at Koury Natatorium (7/18 and 7/19). This is the UNC Swim teams pool. Bathrooms are located at the bottom of the stairs to the right for spectators. The facility is next to the Dean Dome. Please respect the place and don’t go wandering around. Thank you.

Friday night (13&Over AND 12&Under test Warm-up)

• 4:15 pm Koury opens—coaches parent reps arrive, set up
• 4:45-5:15pm – Pool opens for 12 & under swimmers to come see the pool and get in and warm up. Seeing Koury before Champs is a great idea for if your Shark hasn’t swum much in Koury. We have lane 3 in the competition pool and lane 3 in the warm up pool.
• 5:00pm: Big kids arrive
• 5:20-5:50pm: Warmup (Lane 8 in both pools)
• 5:50-6:00pm: Team Cheers and National Anthem (Senior Recognition after 100 IM)
• 6:00pm: Meet starts

Sat am (8 & under):

• 7:15am: Coaches/parent reps and chaperones arrive
• 7:40am: Swimmers arrive – Drop off is at the top of the stairs and coaches will bring the children down the stairs to their teams. No adults allowed on the pool deck unless you are volunteering.
• 7:55-8:15am: Sharks warm up (lanes 3&4 in Competition Pool and lanes 4, 5, 6 in Warm Up Pool)

• 8:15-8:30am: Team cheers, National Anthems, Relays to blocks

• 8:30am: Meet start

Sat pm (9-12):

• 11:55am: Parent volunteers arrive
• 12:10pm: Swimmers arrive – Drop off is at the top of the stairs and coaches will bring the children down the stairs to their teams. No adults allowed on the pool deck unless you are volunteering.
• 12:25-12:45: Sharks warm up
• 12:45-1:00pm: Team cheers, National Anthems, Relays to blocks
• 1:00pm: Meet start

CHAMPS Swimsuit Rules:

• Your swimmer CANNOT wear a tech suit
• Your swimmer CANNOT wear a suit or swim cap with another team’s name on it – e.g., NO NCAC or YOTA Suits
• Female swimmers CANNOT wear a suit that ties in the back
• Swimmers will be disqualified!!

Parking at Koury:

There are several lots that are accessible. The Williamson lot is right across from Koury, but will fill up quickly. The Bowles lot is down the hill and usually doesn’t fill up. Finally, the Manning lot is not too far away either. Please see attached Parking Map.
