Avenel Assistant Head Coach
The Avenel Alligators Swim Team (10001 Oaklyn Dr, Potomac, MD 20854) is seeking an Assistant Head
Coach to join our coaching staff for the 2025 swim season (May 26-July 29, 2025). We are looking for an
enthusiastic person with the motivational and interpersonal skills to engage swimmers of all ages, the
experience to yield positive results from all of our athletes, and a fun personality to enjoy social activities
with the team. We are a small, but passionate swim team with approximately 100 swimmers (ages 5-18
years), and will compete in Division B of the Country Club Swimming and Diving Association (CCSDA)
league. Our swimmers participate in meets on several Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5-9 pm). We
offer a competitive salary with a performance-based bonus. There is also the possibility to earn extra
income by offering private swim lessons. Our Assistant Head Coach is expected to work in coordination
with the Head Coach to provide instruction and motivation to our swimmers, and mentorship to our
junior coaches.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Working with the Head Coach to plan and implement the workout sets for each practice for both the
pre-team (non-competing) and swim-team (competing) swimmers.
● Providing positive instruction and encouragement to swimmers at meets and afternoon practices
(practices are generally held 4:30 to 7:30 pm on weekdays
● Coordinating with the Junior Coaches to ensure coverage of all the swim groups at each practice.
● Assisting in preparing team line-ups for meets using Swimtopia Software.
● Attending scheduled events as directed by team representatives, including weekly spirit events,
meetings, and pre-season events to greet families.
● Working with the Head Coach to select and identify swimmers for awards.
● Preferred, but not required if has current Lifeguard and CPR certifications
