THE STINGRAY SPLASH, July 23 2023 Edition
| And that’s all she wrote folks! This is the last edition of THE SPLASH for the 2023 season. We hope everyone slept in today.
DIVISIONALS RECAP
The weather was beautiful, the pool was beautiful, and the swims were beautiful. Congratulations to all the Stingray swimmers who got a chance to swim in Divisionals yesterday and double congrats to those who made All-Stars!
TEAM RECORDS
More team records fell yesterday amidst the best competition the Red Division had to offer.
Emma Cigna bested her own 15-18 50M Backstroke record with a new time of 31.90.
Congrats Emma!
Jason Xin broke his own 13-14 50M Fly record with a new time of 27.76.
Congrats Jason!
Yaron Li broke his own 13-14 50M Free record with a new time of 24.53.
THIS IS ALSO A NEW COLONIAL SWIM LEAGUE RECORD. The old record was 24.88 set back in 1994, way before any of our swimmers were even born.
Double Congrats Yaron!

ALL STAR MEET
The CSL All-Star Meet is Sat July 29 @ Ashburn Village. All swimmers entered in the Meet will receive information emails separately regarding this week’s practices, breakfast, and meet details. If you’d like to come out and cheer on our swimmers, it begins @ 8am and the pool address is 44078 Cheltenham Circle, Ashburn VA 21047. GOOD LUCK TO OUR STINGRAY ALL-STARS!
RIBBONS/AWARDS
If you missed Banquet last night, your swimmers’ medals and paper plate awards will be in the clubhouse starting this week (we are getting them organized today). There are also some Meet ribbons left to be picked up. Please retrieve the items by Labor Day weekend or they will be thrown out!
REIMBURSEMENTS
If you have purchased anything for Swim Team use, ie Donuts, Swimapalooza supplies, Banquet items, Concessions items etc, please submit for reimbursement soon. We’d like to get you paid and figure out our future budget as soon as we can. Go to our website and choose “Reimbursement Form” from the drop down.
WINTER SWIM
Our winter swim program will begin after Labor Day and go through May. We will only have 3 lanes this year at Cub Run Rec Center on Sunday evenings 7-8pm. Sadly, this means we can only take 33 swimmers. Registration will open on Aug 1 on our website and it will be first come, first served. An email with more info will go out soon.
FINAL SHOUT OUTS
THANK YOU to Everyone who gave back to the community by donating non-perishable food items to the Community of Faith Food Pantry at Swimapalooza. The large bin was overfull and it took us several trips to the car to load because the bin was too heavy for even 2 people to lift.
THANK YOU to our Sponsor for the season, Cristina Dougherty of Long & Foster Real Estate. Visit her website at https://getkeyedup.com/ for your real estate needs.
THANK YOU to the Kona Ice Truck who parked in the lot for 2 of our Home A meets and donated a portion of their proceeds to our swim team.
THANK YOU to the Coaches who made our kids better swimmers, better teammates, fostered a love for the sport, and brought a whole lot of fun into their summertime. We hope you had some fun too!
THANK YOU to the Board Members and Chairs who put their heart and soul (and sanity) into organizing and running this team. Now go and finally take that summer vacation, you’ve earned it!
Last but not least, THANK YOU to Everyone who supported our swimmers this season by volunteering, cheering, encouraging, driving back and forth, back and forth and back and forth again. It truly takes a village to run a summer swim team and we love the support all of our swimmers get from their own families and from the other families. It makes our hearts happy when we see parents high-fiving not only their own kids, but their kids’ teammates too. We don’t do this just to make our kids better athletes, but also to foster team spirit, leadership, and a sense of community. It’s THE STINGRAY WAY!
See you all back in 2024!
GO STINGRAYS!
