B MEET VS FRANKLIN FARM RECAP
We had some BIG numbers last Wednesday. 250+ Swimmers. 100 Burgers. 100 Hot Dogs/Grilled Cheeses. 15+ Pizzas. Numerous Cases of Cold Drinks and Boxes of Candy and over $1600 in Sales! Everything was DEVOURED! We didn’t even have 1 candy bottle pop left. Our swimmers did GREAT but the BIG winner from last Weds evening was our Concessions Team! Big Shoutoutto our Concessions Chair Patty and her husband, Master Griller Billy, the Killingsworth couple (Jen & Nate), Lex, Joon, Jayden, Phu, Elva, Jinyan, Yan. If anyone wants to know the name of the burger seasoning that Billy used, ask me offline, I can’t repeat the name of it here ;-)
A MEET VS FORT MYER RECAP
We survived the record heat on Saturday to down the visiting Squids in a very close meet, the final score was 240-211. We had a lot of great races and our swimmers stepped it up, even without some key teammates this week. We are 2-0 to start our season in the White Division which is no small feat, keep it up Stingrays! CSL Results, Standings, and Leaderboards can be found here. https://csl.nvblu.com/home/
RECORD BREAKERS
More Team Records fell on Saturday at our pool!
The first race of the morning featured our Mixed Age Mixed Medley 200M Relay team of Darren Kim, Melanie McGarry, Yaron Li and Kate Li. They won big with a time of 2:15.68, besting the 2022 team record of 2:18.09.
Kate Li broke her own 9-10 50M Backstroke record set just 2 weeks ago, boasting a new time of 39.84.
Emma Cigna continues to outdo herself, breaking her own 15-18 50M Backstroke record from last season with a new time of 31.22. Emma also is hot on the tail of another Emma from 2018. Emma Cigna TIED Emma Rowson’s 15-18 50M Fly record of 30.81. We can’t wait to see what happens next week!
Our famous freestyler Yaron Li is back at it again this season. He broke the Boys 15-18 50M Freestyle record with a time of 24.62. That record was from 2019 and was held by none other than our very own Coach Cameron!
Last week we reported on Kyle Gadsby breaking 3 League Yard Records at Chinquapin. A local Alexandria newspaper, The Zebra, also had an online story about it, complete with a picture of Kyle and Coach Cameron. Other Stingray swimmers were mentioned as well. You can read the story here! https://thezebra.org/2024/06/16/colonial-swim-league/
Congratulations to all of our record breakers and we know this isn’t the last we have seen from you!
STINGRAY SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Every Friday the Coaches pick a swimmer from each practice that exemplifies hard work, commitment, and positive attitude, all qualities we love to see in our Stingrays! They receive a fun t-shirt and get their picture taken next to the whiteboard.
This week our swimmers are:
1st Practice: Nora Yuan
2nd Practice: Ella Van Dalen
3rd Practice: Allison Wang
Congrats ladies on your accomplishments!
UPCOMING B MEET @ CHANTILLY NATIONAL 6/26

ALL Swimmers can participate, please Edit your Declarations and Pick your Strokes by Monday 6/24 @ 11:59pm. IM TOUGH MEET & QUALIFICATION
Every season, Chantilly Highlands hosts the IM Tough Meet where several CSL teams send swimmers to ONLY swim the IM (100M Individual Medley). This year the meet is Monday evening 7/8. It is broken down into 2 sessions, the first for 10 & Under swimmers and the later session for 11 & Older swimmers. It is not a scored meet and it is only for a chance for swimmers to concentrate on their IM times (ribbons are awarded). In order to qualify for this meet, EVERYONE needs a legal IM time from THIS season. There are no exceptions. There are 3 meets left for a chance to obtain a legal IM Time to enter this meet — this Weds 6/26 at the B Meet at Chantilly National, this Sat 6/29 at the A Meet at Home, next Weds 7/3 at the B Meet at Home. If your swimmer would like a chance to compete in IM Tough and they don’t have a time from this season yet, we HIGHLY recommend they swim the IM this Wednesday. More details on the Meet can be found on our Team Events webpage.
