IM TOUGH RECAP
It was so. So. SO. HOTTTTT last Monday evening for the IM Tough Meet. Our swimmers did not seem fazed by the heat however and nearly everyone dropped time. We had 10 swimmers placing in the Top 6 in their age category, including 4 first place finishers (Kate Li, Jake Sim, Kyle Gadsby, and Yaron Li). Great job everyone! Full Results can be seen on the CSL Website.
B MEET VS FRANKLIN GLEN RECAP
A MEET VS CHANTILLY HIGHLANDS RECAP
It Stormed. The End. See Below for RESCHEDULED Meet info.
Last week I asked the question “Can we go Undefeated?” Well, the answer is….“Of course we can!” We ended our Dual A Meet season in a blaze of glory with yesterday’s win over the Dolphins 253-198. We are now the UNDEFEATED and UNDISPUTED 2024 WHITE DIVISION CHAMPIONS!
RELAY CARNIVAL RECAP
The Meet Theme was Olympics and our Stingrays brought home the Gold. We had 7 First place White Division (2 League Overall) Relay Teams and we snagged the 2024 White Division Relay Carnival Trophy! RECORD BREAKERS
Wow, this was a busy week and records are falling like rain (Purple Rain!) in this late season. Let’s get started.
At IM Tough in the 10 & Under Session, Kate Li shattered a 13 year Girls 9-10 100m IM team record by 4.5 seconds, posting a new time of 1:22.56.
Also at IM Tough, Kyle Gadsby wowed the crowd with his 1:00.90 time in the Boys 13-14 race. Not only is this a new team record, it is a new COLONIAL SWIM LEAGUE RECORD. Kyle also holds the 100 yard IM League record which he set early in the season at Chinquapin (along with the 50 Back and 50 Fly Yard Records). What else can he do? Keep reading.
At the A Meet yesterday, Kate Li struck again in the Girls 9-10 50M Backstroke, besting her own team record with a new time of 38.79 and this was 2nd place! Kate’s Chantilly Highlands opponent also broke THEIR team record with her performance. What a race that was!
Jake Sim swam a blazing Boys 11-12 50M Fly to break our 3 yr old team record with a new time of 30.00. Surprise! This time was also enough to TIE a 7 year old COLONIAL SWIM LEAGUE RECORD. Jake still has a meet or two to do something about that tie.
Now back to Kyle. In the Boys 13-14 50M Backstroke, he broke a COLONIAL SWIM LEAGUE RECORD set just last season by his teammate Jason Xin with a new time of 27.31. In the Boys 13-14 50M Fly, he broke his own team record from last season with a new time of 27.25.
We weren’t done with the records after the Individual events. The Girls 9-10 100M Medley Relay Team of Morgan Talberg, Iniya Palpandian, Kate Li, Lexi Miller swam an electric race against a fast Dolphins team for the win and set a new team record with a time of 1:16.26, striking down a record from 2011 by over 3 seconds!
Congrats Stingray Record Breakers! We
cannot wait to see what other records will go down with the fast pools and stellar competition at Divisionals and All-Stars!

UPCOMING PANCAKE PRACTICE
On Wednesday 7/17 we will have some fun in the pool INSTEAD of practice. Pancakes will be served to swimmers and they can bring their own tubes, floats and pool games. This will be 8-9:30am for all swimmer ages. We still need Volunteers to make pancakes and serve at the event. Go to the Events Page to Signup.
UPCOMING B MEET @ FRANKLIN GLEN (TAKE TWO) 7/17
On Wednesday, it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump on over to the Franklin Glen Pool to swim with the Gators for our LAST B Meet (Rescheduled) of the season. It may be the last chance for many swimmers to see how they have improved over the course of the season, so come on out! Fingers crossed the storms stay away this time!
Meet Declaration Deadline is 11:59pm Mon 7/15. Pick 2 strokes only, or 2 strokes and IM. We still need Volunteers as well!
UPCOMING WHITE DIVISIONAL MEET 7/20
This Saturday many of our Swimmers will travel to South Riding for one last chance to strut their stuff in the pool in a White Division showdown. Coaches will select the swimmers for Free, Back, Breast, Fly, IM Events. There are no Relay Races. The top times from all Divisional Meets will be compiled to determine who swims in the League All-Star Meet on 7/27. Divisional trophies will be awarded during “half-time” to the top age groups, top Girls and Boys Teams, and the Overall Best Team (which is us!). Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer on our swimmers and to participate in the Trophy presentations. The Meet Sheet and specific Meet Info will come out later this week.
UPCOMING END OF SEASON BANQUET 7/20
Join us on Saturday evening as we celebrate the end of another Super Stingray Season at our Annual Banquet. There will be Medals for everyone, Team Awards, Age Group Awards, Paper Plate Awards, Senior Awards, Speeches, and CAKE! We will show off all of our Hardware and unfurl our Division Championship Banner! All-Star Announcements will be made too. You don’t want to miss it!
Festivities begin at 6pm at the AF Pool. We could still use some Volunteers to help set up/clean up and distribute cake (LAST CHANCE TO GET VOLUNTEER POINTS!)
You can still contribute to the Coaches Gifts by paying online here https://checkout.square.site/merchant/MLH51149PW7WY/checkout/IWQKJAAZIARHVIOKXQW4QCAK?src=sheet with a credit card or giving cash/checks to a Board Member. We will evenly distribute the funds amongst all 11 of our Stingray Coaches.
