  B MEET RECAP
Well the thing that happens every year at a B meet happened at the 1st one — a storm delay! Just when we were getting ready to start the very first race of the evening, the skies opened up and we all had to clear the pool deck. Thankfully the storm passed quickly and we were able to not only resume the meet after 45 minutes, but complete it all the way through IMs! Thank you to all the volunteers who stuck around, you can now see how many it takes to run a Home meet with over 100 swimmers.

A MEET RECAP
The defending Red Division champs, Aqua Jets of Ashburn Village, visited us yesterday and despite a record breaking day by some of our swimmers, we couldn’t overcome their overall pool prowess. We lost the meet by a total score of 283-168. We certainly do have a tough schedule this season. You can see all of the CSL results, leaders, team standings by visiting their webpage   https://csl.nvblu.com/home/

BROKEN RECORDS
Saturday was an exciting day to watch records fall, starting right out of the gate with the 1st event!
—The Mixed Age 200M Medley Relay Team of Kate Li, Kyle Li, Jake Sim, Sadie Obeng broke the AF Team Record with a time of 2:12.88.
Kyle Li then went on to break the 15-18 Boys 50M Breaststroke record with a time of 30.39, besting a time from 2016.
Kyle Gadsby broke Coach Cameron’s 15-18 50M Fly record with a new time of 26.53.
—Then both Kyles joined Jason Xin and Yaron Li to shatter the Boys 15-18 200M Medley Relay team record with a time of 1:45.57.
THIS IS ALSO A NEW COLONIAL SWIM LEAGUE RECORD!  Congrats boys!

SWIMMER FOLDERS
If your swimmer is looking for their meet ribbons that they missed getting at practice when the coaches were handing them out, they are going to be filed in their folder in the clubhouse. Places 1-3 get ribbons at A meets and places 1-6 get ribbons at B meets.   As you walk in the front door of the clubhouse, there’s a table with 2 file boxes on it on the left side. Each swimmer has a folder alphabetized by swimmer last name. Siblings are together all in one folder. Please pick up your ribbons and medals and anything else in there throughout the season, they do all get thrown away if not picked up by the following season!

STINGRAY SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to our Stingrays of the Week chosen each Friday by the Coaches, they exemplify hard work and positive attitude which often translates to big time improvements in meets. This week the lucky swimmers are:
1st Practice: Serena Pan
2nd Practice: Abigail Villalba
3rd Practice: Lana Trimble

UPCOMING MEETS
This week we go back on the road. On Wednesday night we travel to Ashburn Farm for a B meet which looks to be rather sweltering. The Deadline to commit and pick your events is Monday night 11:59pm.
On Saturday morning, we head just across the Parkway to Franklin Farm for our next Red Division showdown. The deadline to commit is Wednesday night 11:59pm

The IM Tough Meet is coming up on 7/7 at Chantilly Highlands. This is a meet where swimmers ONLY swim the 100 Individual Medley (IM). If your swimmer is interested in attending this meet, they MUST have a Legal IM time from THIS season. There are only 3 more chances for them to get a time — this Wednesday’s (6/25) B meet @ ABF, this Saturday’s (6/28) A meet @ FF, next Weds (7/2) B meet @ Home. Don’t delay!

If you commit your swimmers to a meet, please also commit yourself to Volunteering and fill in the Job Signup!

UPCOMING SOCIAL EVENTS
On Friday we will have a Nacho & Tie Dye night at the pool beginning at 6pm. There will be a yummy Nacho bar and a Tie Dye station, so bring a white shirt (or anything white) and a bag to bring your completed project home in and enjoy some fun with your teammates!

VOLUNTEERS
We want to thank the volunteers who showed up to help out at recent meets even though their kids were not even swimming, we appreciate your dedication and assistance to the team! We also need to remind people that if you signed up for a Job and can no longer do that job, please remove yourself from the Job Signup asap or let a Board Member know, otherwise it causes a mad scramble 20 minutes before the meet starts to find new volunteers once we discover that you didn’t show up. It makes everyone stressed out.

We still need the following:
Winter Swim Coordinator - We like to have an hour long Sunday eveningwinter conditioning program at Cub Run Rec Center from September through May for swimmers to keep up their skills throughout the year. We need someone to reserve the lanes with Cub Run (which needs to be done in the next couple weeks), help hire the teen coaches that work with the kids, and check in on some Sunday evenings to ensure everything is running ok. We are in danger of not having a program this year if we do not have a Coordinator to oversee it.

Banquet Coordinator - We still need someone to order the end of season awards from Cassels, setup Coaches gift bags, and order a cake for our Team Banquet on July 19.

Board Member - We will have a vacancy on the Board next year and for maximum team benefit we need 6 Board members. If you are interested in helping to run the team that your children love, please come talk to us to learn more! Many hands make light work.
