MEET RECAPS
Last Wednesday we traveled to Ashburn Farm for a B meet with the Barracudas. Storms rolled through the area just beforehand and cooled things down significantly, much to our relief. It was a fun atmosphere with the DJ definitely from my generation playing the best 90s music with yummy empanadas at Concessions and the Kona Ice truck in the parking lot. There were so many time improvements and kids trying and succeeding in new strokes. Thanks ABF for a great meet!

Yesterday we didn’t have to travel nearly as far to take on the Froggers in Franklin Farm. The meet was close up until the Relay races where their depth just proved too much for us to overcome. We lost by a score of 269-182. Did anyone happen to catch their mascot Frog vs Stingray intimidation dive battle right in front of our team area? We WILL have our revenge, Froggers 😡🤣

BROKEN RECORDS
We had 1 team record fall at Saturday’s A meet. Kyle Gadsby broke the Boys 15-18 50M Backstroke record set just last year by teammate Jason Xin. The new time to beat is 27.28.

STINGRAY SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Last week’s swimmers were:
1st Practice: Eduardo Villalba
2nd Practice: Hayes Lyddane
3rd Practice: Gavin Le
Congrats boys! 🎉

UPCOMING SOCIAL EVENTS
We have another Morning Movie at University Mall Theatres this Tuesday 7/1 @ 10:15am. Come see ‘Elio’ with us for $10/person, which includes popcorn and a drink. Prepay at this link https://checkout.square.site/merchant/MLH51149PW7WY/checkout/OU3MATESN4HMRMD7RLHMU67V?src=sheet

Next Friday 7/11 we have our annual Stingrays Got Talent Show! We were rained out last year so 🤞everything goes as planned this time. Swimmers are invited to showcase their out of pool talents; everything from singing, dancing, playing instruments, magic tricks and more! If you have a talent, we want to see it! Individual or Group performances are welcome. There’s a signup sheet in the Clubhouse on the table with the file folders. There will also be a Sno-cone station for an icy treat.

UPCOMING MEETS
On Wednesday 7/2 the South Riding Stingrays come to visit us for a B Meet, where everyone can swim. This is a large team so expect a longer meet. The order of strokes will be Breast, Fly, Free, Back, IM. You can choose up to 3 events but cannot choose an event in which your swimmer scored 1-3 last Saturday. The Deadline for commitment is Monday @ 11:59pm. This is also the LAST chance for swimmers to get a legal IM time to enter the 7/7 IM Tough Meet!

On Saturday 7/5 the first of 2 Burke Centre teams come to our pool for another Red Division clash. Coaches will select the swimmers and deadline for commitment is Weds 7/2 @ 11:59pm.

The IM Tough Meet is Monday evening 7/7 @ Chantilly Highlands. There is a 10 & Under session which begins at 5pm and an 11 & Older session which begins at 7pm. Only swimmers that have a legal 100 IM time from THIS season may enter the meet. Deadline for commitment is Weds 7/2 @ 11:59pm. If you have committed and your swimmer does not have a legal IM time by then, they will not be entered in the meet.

Relay Carnival is also coming up on Sunday morning 7/13 @ Sugarland Run. This is a meet where ONLY relay races are swum and the entire league participates. Coaches will select the swimmers and the deadline to commit is Sunday 7/6 @ 11:59pm.

VOLUNTEERS
We appreciate all of our hardworking volunteers! We are more than halfway through the season already and there still are a lot of meets coming up. We need you now more than ever to help run meets and events for our kids. The reality is that regardless if we have 25 or 125 swimmers at a meet, we need the SAME amount of volunteers to run it. Our registration numbers are down this year so we have less families to pull resources from. Responsible teenagers are welcome to help, so if you have an older child not on the team or even an older child who is on the team but won’t be swimming in that particular meet, they are most welcome to contribute to your family’s volunteer points by taking a position, it’s also nice when they can drive themselves 😁
