MEET RECAPS
We had our last Home B Meet on Wednesday vs South Riding. It was SOOO busy and hot and I don’t remember much other than the Breaststroke is the least fun to start a meet off with (sorry to all of you admirable fast Breaststrokers! 😆). We are proud of all the kids who tried a new stroke however!
On Saturday we WON!! We beat the Burke Centre Penguins by a score of 270-181. We are no longer sitting at the bottom of the Big Bad Red Division. We have 1 more dual A meet left against the other Burke Centre team next week. Let’s finish strong! 💪
STINGRAY SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to last week’s swimmers! 🎉
1st Practice: Evelyn Kang
2nd Practice: Jinha Kim
3rd Practice: Rocco Healy
UPCOMING SOCIAL EVENTS
This Friday 7/11 evening is our Stingrays Got Talent Show! 🎤 There’s a signup sheet in the Clubhouse next to the Swimmer folder box. Sing, Dance, do magic tricks, play an instrument, tell jokes etc. There will be a Sno-cone station for icy treats as well. Festivities begin at 6pm and we will set up the pool for the Sat meet afterwards.
This Saturday evening 7/12 is a Teen Progressive Dinner starting at the pool. A night of food, friends, and fun - one course at a time, reserved only for our 13-18 yr old swimmers.
Next Monday 7/14 we will be having our annual Swimapalooza morning instead of practices. There will be pancakes, music, games, fun relays, and swimmers can bring floaties for the pool! Also, we will be collecting money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that helps combat life-threatening childhood diseases. Donations will be given in memory of Druv Pabba who was a Stingray for many years (and still holds a few team records) before he was diagnosed with leukemia. He battled the disease valiantly for a couple years before sadly passing away this past March. We will have a box for cash donations as well as a QR code for e-donations. Please help us to honor Druv’s life and to cure childhood cancers!
UPCOMING MEETS
On Monday evening 7/7 we have the IM Tough Meet at Chantilly Highlands. Swimmer entries have been completed and all families in the meet were notified of Meet Details. Good luck to the Stingrays that are participating!
On Wednesday evening 7/9 we have our LAST B Meet of the season. We will have a friendly clash with our neighbors the Franklin Glen Gators at their pool. Everyone swims! Commitment and Event selection Deadline is Monday night 7/7 @ 11:59pm.
Saturday morning 7/12 is our LAST A Meet of the Season and our last Home Meet. The Burke Centre Stingers will visit us as we wrap up the season in the Red Division. We will acknowledge our 3 graduating Seniors, and 1 Super Senior. Commitment Deadline is Weds night 7/9 @ 11:59pm.
Sunday morning 7/13 is RELAY CARNIVAL at Sugarland Run. Join all of CSL at this fun meet where only relay races are swum. Coaches will select swimmers and Commitment Deadline is TONIGHT @ 11:59pm.
The Red Divisional Meet is coming up on Sat morning July 19 @ Burke Centre. All of the Red Division teams will swim to determine which swimmers get to go to the League All Star Meet on July 26. Swimmer performance at all of the Divisional Meets that day determines All Star selection! There are no relays, no scores, just individual events and fast times. Coaches will select swimmers and Commitment Deadline is Friday night 7/11 @ 11:59pm.
VOLUNTEERS
We are hitting the busiest week of our season and we need you now more than ever! I know it’s exhausting but we can’t run meets without you, I wish we could all get paid 💰. Certain positions are absolutely crucial to fill and others just make things go faster. The Referees won’t start the meet until we have 3 timers per lane or a Head Timer, we can’t sell Concessions and make $$ for our team unless we have people to actually sell the goodies, we can’t post anyone’s times unless we have people at Computers to do data entry, etc. It’s a lot when we have the same 2 families be a Coordinator, Lane Timer, do Computer entry, Heat winner distro ribbons, Setup, Cleanup, Concessions runs to Costco, and Concessions sales all in the same meet!
We have upcoming meets and social events that we need some volunteers for. Please look on the website and sign up! We will simply cancel the social events if we don’t get any volunteers as that means there is no interest to have them. Dual meet starts will be delayed by the Referee until we fill the crucial roles needed to run the meet. If we don’t fulfill our team’s volunteer requirements for league meets like IM Tough, Relay Carnival, Divisionals, and All Stars, we will be told by the host team to scratch swimmers.
