A Finals and Banquet Weekly update

Hi Glenns,

 

Congrats to all the swimmers who competed in B Finals yesterday.  There were some amazing swims this weekend.

Good luck to our A Finals Swimmers this week.

This will be your last weekly update of the season.  Please RSVP and pay for the Banquet ASAP if you are going to attend. 

Also, Ribbons will be available in the box under the team whiteboard until the pool closes on Labor Day weekend.  After that any unclaimed ribbons will be recycled.

 

A Finals Week Practice Schedule:

Monday, July 21st -Friday, July 25th

  • 13 and up: Normal Practice 7- 8:40 AM
  • RELAY WORK 8:40- 9 AM
  • 12 and under 9-10 am 
    • 12 and unders on a relay need to be ready to get in the water by 8:40 AM.

A Finals

A Finals are held at Beachwood on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 & 27

Beachwood Recreation Association:  3365 Jack Dr, Troy, MI 48084

 

Saturday Events – PRELIMINARIES

  • Morning Session: Age groups: 13/14, 15-18
    • Report Time 7:40 am, warm-up at 8 am
    • Meet starts at 8:35
  • RELAYS Swimmers: arrive no later than 10:15 am
    • Relays will immediately follow, with warm-ups beginning at approximately 10:30 am and events beginning at approximately 11:30 am.
  • Afternoon Session: Age Groups: 8 & U, 9-10, and 11-12
    • Report Time 11:30 am

 

All swimmers are marshaled for this meet. Swimmers who do not report to marshaling will be scratched from the meet. Please help your swimmer pay attention to meet timing. Events ending in 3, 4, 5 & 6 swim in the morning session. Events ending in 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 0 swim in the afternoon session

Sunday

Sunday qualifiers will warm-up at the Glen. Backstrokers should plan to leave the Glen in time to get to Beachwood to get their stroke count. Drew will let the kids know what time to report to the Glen on Sunday morning.

The Parade of Teams will begin at 9:45 a.m. All team members are encouraged to attend the parade, costumes are encouraged.  The Glen parade theme this year is “Door-to-Door Salesman” 

The Sunday meet will begin at 10:20 am and proceed in regular dual meet order. There will be breaks for awards after events 8, 18, 28, 38, 46 and 52. Swimmers in events immediately after awards must be in marshalling BEFORE the awards ceremony.

 

Admissions:

   This year it is $10 per adult which covers both days.  Volunteers will recieve admission wristbands this week.

 

Parking:

  • The Beachwood parking lot will be reserved for coaches, officials, NSSL, and handicap parking 
  • Parking is available at the office parking lot (preferred parking lot) located just south of Beachwood.  To access this parking lot from Big Beaver - turn left on Cunningham and then left into parking lot; from Coolidge, turn right on Cunningham and then right into parking lot.  There will be signs directing people to this parking lot. 

 

Banquet

The end of the season banquet is Sunday, July 27th  St. Mary’s Banquet Center, at 6:15 PM

 If you have not RSVP’s or Paid for the banquet, please do so ASAP, The registration deadline is Sunday July 20th.

RSVP on the event page by declining or committing for one of your swimmers. Please include a note in your RSVP letting us know how many people will be attending. 

$25 per person (including swimmers).  

Payment should be placed in the green swim team mailbox under the whiteboard by Wednesday, July 23rd. Please make checks payable to Farmington Glen Swim Team. 


 

End-of-season coaches' gifts and thank-yous.

Every year, we collect cash contributions towards end-of-the-year coaches' gifts.  Please consider contributing towards these gifts. 

  •  Cash donations in a marked envelope can be placed in the blue mailbox. I will do the final pick up from the mailbox on Saturday, July 26t,h in the evening.

 

  •  If you wish to Venmo a coach's gift, these will need to be done by the end of the day on Thursday, July 24th so I am able to cash them out from the Bank on Friday.  Venmo is @FarmingtonGlen_swimteam, please indicate coach's gift on the memo.


If you would like to leave a thank you note to the coaches to be included with their gifts at the banquet, those can be placed in the bin under the white board starting Wednesday evening at Spirit Sign making.  I will collect this bin Saturday, July 26th evening.  Thank you cards can also be brought to the banquet.
