2025 Coaching Staff

Niki Rodriguez - Head Coach 

Niki has been swimming her entire life and started coaching as a young teen.  She finished her own swimming career with Vista Diablo while swimming varsity for Clayton Valley High School.  At 18 she got her first coaching job at Scottsdale Swim Team, then moved on to Bishop Estates, and spent several years with our friends at Forest Park, also providing private lessons.  She would have stayed to coach at Forest Park forever but then the pandemic hit and life shifted for everyone. Throughout this time she married her best friend and built a family.  She homeschooled her children until 2021 when she decided to build her own swim team from the ground up, the Solar Sea Monsters.  For the last 4 years, she has been coaching and leading the Solar Sea Monsters Swim Team all while running a swim school and even starting new programming for swimmers with special needs.  Coach Niki’s team started at 15 and grew to 75 swimmers, with 7 swimmers making county the last two years! Incredible grit and determination! Coach Niki is Lifeguard/CPR/AED certified. She is a fully certified USA and CIF certified swim coach. 

Hannah Jacobs - Assistant Coach 

Hey Gators!! My name is Hannah Jacobs and I will be the assistant coach this year. I have been at Gehringer for as long as I remember (I think 13 years at this point) and have loved every season. I first started coaching with the minis around the age of 11, then became a swimmer coach at 16, and was an assistant coach for the first time last year. I am currently in college studying Early Childhood Education with the hope of becoming a kindergarten teacher. I love the gator community and our focus on improvement! I look forward to meeting our new families and reconnecting with families that are returning! This is gonna be a good season! GO GATORS!

David Giordano - Swimmer Coach 

Hey Gators!  I am incredibly happy to be returning as your coach this summer, I think it's gonna be a good one.  I joined Gehringer at 5 years old, meaning this will be my 13th summer as a Gator.  Effort and determination has gotten me to where I am today–it’s gotten me 6 team records, a pool record, and many top ten finishes at our city and county meets.  I have been wanting to coach since I was young, evident by the fact that I have been junior coaching since I was only 10 years old.  After stepping into a higher role last year, I am even more excited to see what we can do this year! Avery Boughton - Swimmer Coach 

Hello, I'm Avery and I've been on the team, for 10 years!  Last year I coached in the preseason, and I've been junior coaching for the past 8 years.  I've also been giving private lessons these last 2 seasons.  My primary stroke is breaststroke, and I've gotten 3rd in it at County twice.  I have the team's 15-18 50 yard freestyle record, and several of the relay records as well.  I'm lifegaurd certified, and have worked at the pool the past 3 years.  I'm very excited to coach the Gators this season!

Carrie Shin - Swimmer Coach 

Hi Gators! My name is Carrie, and this will be my first season as a swimmer coach. I started swimming competitively at San Leandro when I was eight and have been on Gehringer for four years. I love working on racing technique and helping younger kids improve their technique, too. For the past two years, I have received County times in Breaststroke and the Freestyle Relay. I have been a junior coach for two years and am lifeguard certified. Go Gators!

Brian Burnett - Pre-Season & Invitationals

Coach Brian grew up swimming on a competitive, year-round swim team all the way through high school, moving onto Inner Tube Water Polo through college.  He has been the coach for both the Concord High School swim team (4 years) and water polo team (8 years). His dedicated experience and commitment to the Gator family will be a pillar of support for swimmers and families alike this season.
