Short Course Season is Over!
Hi everyone,
I just got home from our last big meet of the Short Course Season in St. Mary’s! I want to congratulate all the swimmers on a successful short-course season! All of the times are uploaded to the team website!
We have one more meet at the end of March for our Sectionals Qualifier, Michael Kail. For everyone else, it is time to move on to trying out some Long-Course Meets and a speedy Summer Swim Season.
Cherry Blossoms was a very long weekend for some of us. Whenever I see that many swimmers drop time and end their season on a high note, it makes it all worth it! We had many great performances and dropped tons of time throughout these last three weekends!

A few quick reminders as we approach the Spring
Things will slow down for a bit until Summer Swim kicks in, so I wanted to make sure everyone is on the same page.
- Competitive programming on Monday and Wednesday will continue until the end of April. Depending on your swimmer's group, the last session will be on April 27th or 30th.
- Conditioning will look different since we are less focused on distance races and long meets as we approach a couple of long course meets and then Summer swim.
- Dry Land Training will include resisted exercises using bands, plyometrics, and jump training to generate explosiveness. Our goal is to create better athletes and, thus, better swimmers. Our main focus will be on gaining strength, power, and body control.
- The only remaining dates between other meets and Easter are March 23rd, April 6th, and April 27th. These will all take place at Aqua Culture.
- Swimmers should wear athletic clothing and sneakers or running shoes. They should also bring layers for potential outdoor time.
January-April Calendar is attached here for future reference!
Long Course Competitions
We have two long course meets on the schedule: April 27th and May 11th. I have emailed for final commitments. If you want to be added, please email me ASAP.
- April 13th is at the McDonough School. Meet Notice is posted online for reference.
- May 10th is at the US Naval Academy in downtown Annapolis. If you haven't attended before, it's a fun one! The meeting notice is posted online.
- To those of you who are interested in attending Long Course States, we may squeeze something in during the Summer if needed to qualify.
End-Of-Season Team Outing
We are still waiting for some families to commit to Great Wolf Lodge. If you plan to come, please commit to it with a note specifying exactly how many people will attend. I have already sent them a number, and I will send any additional people in a couple of weeks.
Summer Swim
Registration will open in a few weeks. Information is posted on the website. Please reach out to friends and family who may be interested but are not on any email lists. Feel free to send them my way at [email protected].
The HSL Schedule is attached below for those of you looking to schedule your summer.
Thanks,
Coach Galen
