Preseason Information #4 - Final updates and reminders prior to our first practice

Galen Ziegler

Hello everyone,

We are getting very close to the beginning of the season!

This will be my last massive email. Hopefully, all our new families are up to speed. Feel free to email me any questions as they come up!

Volunteering

It looks like we are about 50% of the way there on volunteer hours! I appreciate those of you who have already signed up! The time and energy you donate to the team does not go unnoticed.

Our goal was to have everyone commit to their hours by June 1st. After June 1st, I will send out emails to people who still need hours.

Practice Starts this Sunday, June 1st!

Practice Groups are here for reference.

Calendars are linked as well. June and July

Information about HCC is at the bottom of this email for new families or anyone who has not been there recently.

Suits and Team Apparel

Everything is on schedule! There have not been any issues with production for the suits or team apparel. Everything should be here by the week of our first meet. Plan to pick things up then.

Parent Meeting Notes

I posted a separate News item with some notes from the parent meeting that apply to all new and experienced families. If you were unable to attend, please scan through it quickly so everyone is on the same page.

Important Upcoming Dates

  • June 1st – First Day of Practice! Deadline to Volunteer!
  • June 7th – Preseason Intrasquad Meet @ HCC
  • June 14th – First Regular Season Meet @ Fallston

Thanks,

Coach Galen

Information on Harford Community College (HCC) Practices:

First of all, pay close attention to the calendars when practices are at HCC. All morning practices and SUNDAY evening practices will be there throughout the season.

 Facility Information

  • The pool is within the Susquehanna building. This is connected to the APGFCU Arena.
  • Parking is allowed anywhere around the APGFCU Arena. There is an entrance along the left side of the building. You can also enter through the main entrance of the arena. The far left doors will be the only ones open and send you almost directly to the pool deck.
  • Construction is happening on the adjacent building, and this will continue throughout the summer. It should not have major effects on us, but be aware because it does effect the traffic pattern around the building.
  • Swimmers and all accompanying persons must enter and exit through the locker rooms. Usage of the glass doors is prohibited.
  • Unlike Aqua Culture, younger swimmers can not enter the facility on their own and may not play in the facility without supervision. Swimmers under the age of 12 should be escorted to the pool deck and then escorted from the pool deck and outside. Swimmers should not be roaming around the dry side of the facility unattended.
  • Parents are welcome to stay and watch practice. Seating is very limited. You are allowed to bring chairs
  • Clean-up will be essential and items left behind are subject to disposal. HCC is kind to us, and we do not want to incur additional fees or be bound by additional rules as a result of an increased workload on their staff.
  • We would like to keep the use of the locker rooms for changing at a minimum There is no way for us to monitor the behavior in those areas safely. Swimmers should arrive in their suits. Swimmers should also leave in their suits when possible.
  • We ask that food stay off the pool deck at HCC. Fluids, including water and sports drinks, are always allowed.
