Championships Pre-Meet Information
Championships
I have linked the Meet Notice here. This document is published by the meet hosts to provide necessary information to the coaches, parents, and swimmers. Many of your questions can be answered by this document. So, keep it for reference.
Sunday Qualifying Times
The day your swimmer does their events will be solely determined by these cut times. We are not doing top 18 entries like past years. Make sure you put in the notes what your swimmer wants to swim.
Saturday Evening Optional 100 Free
If you have any questions about the 100 Free, please let us know. There is more information in meet notice. Long story short… If your 9-12 year old swimmer wants to try the event. They can come to the Saturday afternoon session to do it without any additional entry fees and it does not count towards their entry limits. Put in the notes if they want to swim it. 13&Overs may or may not be able to participate based on their qualifying times.
New Families…
Championships can be a complicated event for new families. Feel free to email me with any questions.
Entry Process
Swimmers are encouraged to share their event preferences. When you go on the website to commit or decline, you can enter a note. That is where you will make your swimmer’s request. We will be looking at top times and considering how events historically play out at championships. We will do our best to put your swimmer in the events where they can have the most success. But, if your swimmer has a special request, please enter that with your commitment. If you already committed, you can still go in and add a note. Commitments and event preferences are needed by Saturday, July 12th at midnight.
Saturday vs. Sunday
All Swimmers qualify for Championships if they have a legal time and swam an event in at least half of the meets!
Anyone with a Sunday Championship Qualifying Time will swim that event on Sunday regardless of their ranking on the top times. Any time that is not equal to or faster than that qualifying time will be swum on Saturday in the appropriate session.
The maximum number of events a swimmer may do is three individual events. Swimmers are expected to swim all three, even if that means coming on both days. This is an individual and team championship event. So, full participation is expected!
Sunday morning at Coppermine Bel Air will be for all ages that met the qualifying time.
Saturday morning at Fountain Green will be for all other 10&Under swimmers.
Saturday afternoon at Arena Club will be for all other 11&Over swimmers.
Relays
Relays will be sent out at the beginning of the week. How all the swimmers end up ranking will determine what relays we can swim on Saturday vs. Sunday and which relays we can not swim at all. You may be asked to come to different session to swim a relay. When everyone gets spread out across two days, it can be challenging to fill the spots. I appreciate your flexibility in advance.
Thanks,
Coach Galen
