Meet the Coaches
Coach Brogan started playing water polo when he was 10-years-old. There was no age group water polo being offered close by, so he would commute to Naperville, Illinois in the evenings to play. At the time, his older sister was in high school at Hinsdale Central and after just one game Brogan knew that he wanted to follow in her footsteps.
After high school, Brogan would go on to swim at Eastern Illinois Univeristy. His junior year at EIU, he was voted captain and broke the school record for the 200-yard backstroke. Brogan's water polo coaching career began in 2015, where he started Salt Creek Club's water polo team with home-made goals and just a handful of athletes. The team has grown in size every summer and now includes 40+ members of alll age groups and ability levels. In the spring of 2020, Brogan became the junior varisty Coach for the men's team at Central. Brogan decided that only offering three months of water polo wasn't enough. Ever since starting his first team, Brogan dreamed of creating a year-round program to introduce the sport to the next generation of athletes in the Hinsdale Area. Noow, that dream has finally come true.
Coach Josh began playing polo when he was going into 8th grade. During that summer, he fell in love with the sport and decided he was going to play water polo in high school. He played for Hinsdale Central all four years, with three of the years being on the varsity team. Over the summer, he would play for the Lyons and Fenwick water polo clubs.
After his years at Central, he attended College of DuPage and during his free time would help coach for the Red Devils. Josh first joined as a helping hand on the JV team and then eventually took voer as the JV head coach for two years. He began coaching the water polo team at Salt Creek in 2019 and just recenlty started coaching a summer water polo program at Five Seasons in Burr Ridge, Illinois. After that, Josh transferred to Arizona State University where he finished his career with a degree in education. This fall, he will be teaching 6th grade science in Naperville.
Scottie played Water Polo
at Hinsdale Central all four years. He played half of his freshman
year on varsity and did not look back after that. In
Scottie’s freshman year he was awarded the Red Devil Award
which goes to the player who showcases great sportsmanship in the
pool and out. He would go on to get voted Captain and team MVP both
his junior and senior year, while leading the team in assists and
goals. Capping off his high school career, Scottie was awarded the
“Jim Carmignani” Award which is given to a student for
their outstanding athletic performance and leadership in their
respective sport. After graduating high school in 2018, he traveled
with West Suburban Water Polo Club to San Jose, California to play
in the Junior Olympics.
Scottie then
transitioned into a coach the following summer in 2019 with West
Sub, he coached with them the next three summers. During the school
year he had studied his freshman year at College of Dupage, then
transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. At Nebraska,
Scottie studied Sports Media graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in
Journalism with a minor in Communication Studies, in May of
2022.
When he first
learned of the Hinsdale Water Polo Club, he was excited for the
opportunity to help with his many years of playing experience and
love for the game.
At the suggestion of his older brother, Jack started playing water polo in middle school. Up until his freshman year at Hinsdale Central High School, he played for both the Lyons and Fenwick water polo clubs. While at Hinsdale Central, Jack was named captain of the varisty water polo team in his junior and senior year. He remains passionate about water polo, and looks forward to introducing the next generation of athletes in the western suburbs to the sport.
