Beaver Buzz – Picture Day is coming!

Heather Dury

Hi Beaver Families,

Galt was a blast—next up, SacTown! Huge shout-out to our amazing zoo keepers and families who kept the day running smoothly by getting swimmers to the ready bench on time—you helped make the meet a success! We can’t wait to take on the SacTown Tsunamis this Saturday.

To help our 13U swimmers rest up and be ready to race, we’re offering two practice options this Friday evening (instead of the normal practice time): 6:25–7:10 PM or 7:10–7:55 PM—choose whichever works best for your family.

Also, a friendly reminder to PLEASE check the Lost & Found! We’ll have items out during Picture Day, but any unclaimed gear will be donated to Goodwill after June 23. Don’t let your goggles or towels disappear for good!

📸 Picture Day Potluck

One of our team’s favorite traditions is almost here—Picture Day and Family Potluck is happening this Thursday! Be at the pool deck by 5:00 PM sharp—the photographer will begin taking individual and team photos promptly at 5:00. Photo forms will be in swimmer mailboxes soon, but don’t worry—you can also fill one out the day of.

After photos, stick around for a fun family potluck and free swim! This is a family-only event (not a bring-a-friend night), and a great chance to build community and relax together.

Please sign up to bring a dish to share, and don’t forget your suits—parents too! Let’s eat, swim, and make memories together.

🏊 Swim Meet Saturday

This Saturday, the Beavers head to the SacTown Tsunami’s pool. Here are a few reminders:

  • Declare your swimmer: RSVP to the event no later than Wednesday, June 4. IMPORTANT: Every swimmer must declare on our website (not SportsYou) by Wednesday. Swimmers who are not checked in during the designated check-in window will be scratched from the meet — no exceptions.
  • Volunteer: Sign up for a volunteer job. Remember, we do not have a swim meet without you, our amazing volunteers. As of now, we need a lot of afternoon volunteers.
  • Location: Christine Thompson Aquatic Center, 8025 Waterman Road, Sacramento, CA 95829
  • Volunteer Reminder: Please help us by filling needed volunteer positions first before signing up for roles that already have the required number of people. If you have any questions about volunteer expectations, shift sign-ups, or how it all works, please reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Megan, or a board member.
  • Sharpies & Swimmer Markings: Ever wonder why our swimmers show up covered in Sharpie? It’s not just for fun — it’s how they keep track of their events, heats, and lanes! It helps them stay on schedule and know where to be when it’s go time. If your swimmer loves the Sharpie ritual, consider sending them with their own. Let’s keep the tradition alive (and our team’s Sharpie stash intact 🤣)!

🥳 Swim-A-Thon is Here!

Swim-A-Thon is our biggest fundraiser of the season and a fun-filled event where swimmers raise money by collecting donations and swimming as many laps as they can. We will have awesome awards for the swimmers who swim the most laps and raise the most funds. If our team raises $10,000, we will host a party our swimmers will surely never forget!

This year, we’re celebrating the Carmichael Beavers’ 60th birthday with a party-themed Swim-A-Thon bash! As a nonprofit recreational league, every dollar raised helps fund coaching, equipment, special events, and improvements like upgrading our team signage so our Beaver pride shines bright at every meet.

We’ve already raised over $500, and with all the hard work our swimmers have been putting in during the season, we can’t wait to see how many laps our Beavers can swim to support the team!

📅 Workout Summaries Now on SportsYou!

Coach is now posting daily workout summaries to the calendar on SportsYou! This allows families to see what swimmers are working on each day—and gives swimmers the chance to review or even repeat workouts independently. Be sure to check it out and stay in the loop!

We’ll also use it to share real-time updates, swim meet sheets, and important team information. The app also makes connecting with other families, board members, and coaches easy.
